The one thing I hate about the Z

Whats up fellow comrads and rivals, whatever it may be.

I'm just in a pissed mood right now and since you all are fellow owners I'd just like to let off steam here. I love my Z. At first I liked it, but as I learned how to drive it and respect it, it became more valuable to me as a machine than what its worth. With that being said, besides the mpg, I'm sick and tired of cruddy cars trying to race me everyday. At first I thought it was just california drivers, they just shitty drivers, however today was enough evidence of that by some weak fat piece of crud in a toyota corolla. Me being fed up, i sped up as he sped up, and obviously bogging down my car in second gear at 20mph full throttle, I was still able to speed up faster, get in his lane a car ahead and dust his azz, then go back in my lane at a stop light. I thought I proved a point, but no, he starts talking **** saying my car is slow.

I really love this car, I do. But I cannot drive this car, respect it like old man that fully restored an old muscle car, and just drive it with TLC. Just the fact I'm able to drive, and a awesome car.

But people, are ruining it so bad, I want to go back to my honda civic lx and just suck it up. Because I'm at the breaking point, of getting out of the car and wailing every person that harasses me on the street, as crazy as that may sound.

I'm not the copetitive type at all. Its a fist fight, or be on your way and take your little nose, and point it elsewhere in another persons business.

There, I bitched and complained like a puss. Sorry if this sounds stupid to you all, but just hoping theres others like me who dont want to waste their engines dusting shitty cars everyday. Because you dont see other sports cars acting like jack asses on the public roads

kenchan 05-08-2014 08:52 PM

wait till a corolla-S does a ricor flyby.

s for serious racing.

Gadgetech 05-08-2014 08:57 PM

Right there with ya...I get more people that want to speed up just to get in front of my Z. I notice it way more in the Z than my Mustang. I find it hard just to make a trip home without having to deal with those shenanigans so I just drive slow and let them pass. Then when they've tripped the light green because they were in such a big hurry, I roll past them. I actually take pleasure in driving slow to witness these things.

I describe traffic in Greenville being like Chinese handcuffs (some May be too young to know what I'm talking about). The harder you try to get out of them, the tighter it gets...traffic here is the same way, the faster you try to get somewhere, the longer it takes.

Mehhhhhhhhhhhhhh I get that all the time as well. I pay them no mind except for that one incident I posted about a few days ago.

Here's what you do... Rev the motor when they come up on you again, put the window down and give them the finger. Change lanes and proceed to go about your business as you were before.

Zerocool 05-08-2014 09:03 PM

I passed a 5.0 the other day heading home and he felt the need to smash the pedal and go nose to nose with me. I looked at my gf, who was in the pass. seat, laughed and continued you cruising while he sped off.

Z-Girl 12 05-08-2014 09:04 PM

Gadgetech I handle drivers the same way...

Duc_Z09 05-08-2014 09:05 PM

Get used to it. I've even had POS Civics rev at me when I'm riding my Ducati... like anything short of a Lambo has a chance.:gtfo2: Dumbasses will always be dumbasses and 370s are like moron-bait. Try not to drive anywhere within 20 miles of an Autozone or Pep Boys.

:iagree:

Try being female and driving a Z. :shakes head:

tnav 05-08-2014 09:21 PM

Move to a better neighborhood, that usually fixes everything

Akurei 05-08-2014 09:25 PM

Figured. Still glad to see others. I'll try to be mature about it but I'm still young blood myself. I understand the Z is not the fastest car being low 13s in a 1/4 mile. But unlike the majority on the street who have any clue about a car nonetheless an oil change.

Women are competitive too here. I get women in trucks, vans, fuel saving cars trying to out speed me more than you think. You should see their faces when i dont try to dust them. When i stop at the stop light, their face shows, I got him the ballzzzz hahahaha

blackcherry20 05-08-2014 09:28 PM

It is better since I took my name off the license plate. Before that. Omfg. Every red neck in a lifted picked up had to ride my azz and get by me at all costs.

Wth.

Zerocool 05-08-2014 09:31 PM

Ha, my gf has a 370. She laughs when people try to race her.

"get a real car, dude." she's so mean.

Ha, my wife gets that all the time. Pretty much every time she takes it to her work she comes home and tells me some dewsh tried to race or made a smooch face at her as they speed off.

Today some asshat in a ford turbo diesel felt the need to spool his turbo at the stop light at me then peel out through 2nd gear. I was waiting for a cop to pull him over.

Akurei 05-08-2014 09:38 PM

Well they pretty much brought to the obvious. Women in sports cars is sexy. Wouldnt doubt dudes try to impress at the same time of trying to compete

 I'm not "competing". Nothing to prove. Unlike the challengers obviously.

Akurei 05-08-2014 09:53 PM

Well, i'm good now i drank a beer bwahaha. blackcherry20, dont get me wrong, i just said women are attractive in sports cars :p. And assuming

Fountainhead 05-08-2014 10:00 PM

I get people in vans passing me at 85 on the crowded interstate, changing lanes and just doing anything to get ahead of me, especially if I got ahead of them in some way just to change lanes without slowing down traffic. They take it personally for some reason.
It's even funnier when they get up on my *** when I'm just minding my own business on the highway and doing the speed limit. I just have nothing to prove to someone in another vehicle. People are crazy, you know? Drivers that end up next to me first in line that punch it at a red light next to me, and the next light 1000 feet ahead is still red.

Akurei 05-08-2014 10:12 PM

I get ya. I dont know why people are jack asses. I guess they assume their driving skills and magic foot would increase horsepower and maybe torque if they know what that it is and make the mach speeds. The swerving thing was basically what happened to me on the after effects but this dude had the balls to roll down his down and yell at me cursing on top of his lungs like a puss. I took all my willpoer to restrain myself from opening the door. Edit: that sounds better

blackcherry20 05-08-2014 10:18 PM

^^^ lol

gbrettin 05-08-2014 10:25 PM

This has got to be a locality thing. I never have this happen.

Fuzzzy 05-08-2014 10:25 PM

It must be a regional/local thing. I haven't had that problem at all. Maybe everyone here is too busy texting or talking on their phones to want to race.

My experiences not really "race" challenges...more like :gtfo2: and outta my way bi#ch .... W black smoke rolling. And trust me, I'm not rolling at 45mph.

Same here. I RARELY get challenged/cut-off/revved on/etc. (maybe happens once or twice a year) I do live in a nice, civilized city though....that might be a big factor. As long as they don't intentionally cut me off, I dont see a reason to be mad when P.O.S. cars challenge or rev at me.

Got_Z 05-08-2014 10:41 PM

Anyone have these kinds of encounters with giant lifted trucks? At least once a day I have a giant lifted truck trying to get my attention either on the freeway or at a light...

^^^^ this is what I used to get. Yes. Just almost kill themselves trying to get around and in front of me. :shakes head:

Amj2020 05-08-2014 10:52 PM

haters gonna hate

I got ricer flybys today from surprise surprise...a Honda Fit (hahahaha) and a Honda Civic...I think its cute and rarely do anything other than downshift my FI exhaust and make them grin.
The car is about how it makes you feel anyway...people are stupid most of the time, this is earth get used to it:P

Akurei 05-08-2014 10:54 PM

Once in a blue moon you may see someone who did something to their diesel truck using twin turbo method. If you look in youtube there are lifted large tire diesel truck doing 10 seconds i the 1/4 mile. But thats rareee haha

Akurei 05-08-2014 10:59 PM

I'mma try to shrug stuff off from now on. I just hate it when other people ask why i buy a sports car and dont abuse it everyday. Like they cant comprehend that. A machine of metal surfaces scraping against eachother wearing down.

Thats when i baby it of course

NismoNox 05-08-2014 11:11 PM

I roll my eyes every single time some Honda guy pull up revving it

Had an older F-250 pull up next to me at a light and I was purposely rolling in 1st since the light was going to change and I guess either he thought I was going to peel off or he had something to prove, he slams on the gas and spews a nice cloud of diesel exhaust and takes off. A mile later I see him down the road exiting. I don't get it lol. I wasn't even speeding or driving aggressively. Gotta love people who are incredibly jealous or just need to be douchebags.

Ubetit 05-09-2014 06:39 AM

Probably your age. No one tries to race me. Even if they did I wouldn't notice because I have the radio up, the top down and don't make eye contact with anyone next to me.

jlo370z 05-09-2014 07:20 AM

same here, i have yet had anyone try to egg me into a race

This was one of the major factors i sold my '13 Z after ten months. it was just so damn high strung and every dbag had something to prove, even at 5am driving to work every morning. it was just soooooo uncomfortable.

Dont get me wrong, the Z was great, just wasnt what I wanted any longer at this point in my life.

b15 05-09-2014 07:48 AM

I don't really get egged to race but its more the SUV and minivans trying to "bully". They'll tailgate me, cut me off, speed past me. Quite comical really because I just mind my own business.

Always fun when they cut me off to getting into the off/on ramp, then have to slam their brakes on the turn.

MadMan 05-09-2014 07:55 AM

Not about people trying to race me, but...
Several months back I had to go to a funeral in Miss. My sister & BiL also went & took their C6. Almost all of the drive through Ala. was interstate & while we were not flying, we were maintaining a speed where no one was passing us.
We get to Miss. & keeping the same speed, I swear cattle trucks & yugos were flying by us.
We were being passed by everything on the road.
Already going at a speed that was "bruising" the speed limit pretty bad, we just watched as Caterpillar Road Grading Equipment left us in their dust.

Elan 05-09-2014 07:59 AM

People really don't mess with me that much. I can only think of three occurrences and of course, I don't give in cause well I'm more mature than that. I have nothing to prove. If you threw $5k into a 1989 Civic and could kick my @ss, good for you!

1. F-250 kept gassing and braking next to me. Just trying to get me to race. I just maintained my speed and ignored him. Eventually he stopped.

2. Some redneck in a POS Ranger called my car slow at a light. I just laughed and said "Oh yeah? Is it?"

3. Some high school kid in a red 350 would not stop revving at me from across the street. Like in a crowded city, this kid was just revving and staring at me. It was embarrassing. He passed me revving and staring and I just laughed.

People...

SouthArk370Z 05-09-2014 08:00 AM

I get the occasional wave but no invitations to race. But I don't really look for that kind of stuff, so maybe it's happening and I just don't notice.

If someone is trying to goad me into a race, they are wasting their time. I have a pretty good idea of what the car can do and don't need to prove it anyone. And it wouldn't bother me a bit if I had the slowest car in town - the Z is plenty fast for me. :driving:

mrthomr 05-09-2014 08:17 AM

Rofl. Great read for Friday morning. After following me a while a Toyota something passed me on the interstate this morning going down hill. I was on cruise at 75. I then had to pass him no more than 15 sec later b/c I was now on his *** due to him slowing down. I just don't get ppl. Maybe he likes to save his brakes.

I get the occasional slow driver until they see me coming up behind them and then they gun it to stay ahead of me. Fine by me b/c I know where I'm going and I just want to get there. No competition anxiety ever. I'm fine with drafting.
