Default VDC question

Can't find the answer to this in the owners manual and can't find the portion of the service manual dealing with VDC (for some reason, my index pdf file doesn't work).

Does anyone know what section of the service manual addresses VDC?

VDC is on, you push and hold the VDC Off button. The off light comes on, but then if you continue to hold the button for about 10 seconds, the light goes out, and pushing the button repeatedly does nothing.

What have I accomplished by holding the button that long. Does that turn off the ABLS? (Active brake limited slip), since normally it still operates with the switch off?

I seem to recall something like that with the 350, but it was so long ago.

page 2-34 only describes the on and off function like you said. I don't know personally if it matters once the vdc warning light on the dash is on then Vdc is off.

Just checked the manual and didn't see any reference to holding the VDC button for 10 seconds.

Thats why I want to find the section of the service manual regarding VDC. I know it doesn't say it in the owners manual, but something definitely happens if you hold the button for 10 seconds. I just want to know what that is.

Holding it 10 seconds unlocks a secret ECU program that adds about 150rwhp. I just did it and left a new Ferarri Italia in my dust like it was standing still.

VDC is in the Brake Control System section of the service manual. It doesn't explain what happens after you hold the button down for 10 seconds though (at least not that I could see).

Hrmm....spooky. Now you have me wondering (and researching) what holding it down for so long has done lol. Probably killed a kitten.

I think I figured it out with some road testing.

VDC on - push button and hold for 10 seconds - VDC goes off for 10 seconds, then comes back on and cannot be turned off again until the car is restarted.

Don't know what the functionality is, but thats what it does.

I actually hold mine down for 5-6 seconds out of habit from my best friends RS4. Pressing it for a longer period of time actually does something additional that doesnt take affect just by pressing it quickly. I just cant remember what it was right now..LOL So I always hold for a few - 'just in case'

Actually you are very lucky you only held the VDC button in for 10 seconds. If you hold in for 15 seconds you will activate the driver seat ejection mode and be ejected from the car.WOW!It was your lucky day!
