Downshift Rev-Matching (DRM) is technology that began in the 5at G35 n trickled down into the Z maxima and altima models.
It was designed as a heal and toe simulator for auto transmissions and also throttle blip control to increase the speed of shifts in automatic transmissions. This innovative piece of tech software has modernized auto transmissions along with DSG and PDK. Now autos can move a car faster than a m/t tho autos are inherently 100lbs heavier. SRM is technology copied from drm to make manual transmissions more precise in its shift and makes the driver look way more precise than he is. As it stands new tech autos are seemingly making manuals obsolete in terms of acceleration and handling. SRM IS KEEPING MANUALS IN THE GAME AND ON THE CUTTING EDGE OF TECHNOLOGY. I guess that's the best way to explain it in laymans terms.
