Bought My 370Z a few weeks ago.....first mods?
Hi guys. This is my first post on the forum. I have recently become the proud owner of a 370z GT in Ebisu Black. I've covered 1000 miles in it so far and am very happy.
Anyway this post was just for me to say hello. I'm also pretty keen to get modding and was wondering what sort of mods people generally start with. I have been looking at various exhaust and induction upgrades, it's just so hard to know what to choose (particularly with the exhausts). Oh I should also mention that I'm based in the UK. Cheers Anthony |
Welcome, as you said most people start with intake and or exhaust. I would go with exhaust, it looks and sounds good. I'm running a Fast Intentions CBE and I and many others on here love it.
|
Welcome, I just got my parts in today as I just picked up my nismo. I bought Stillen Gen3's and Berk HFC's. Can't wait to install them.
Anyways, Goodluck and i'm sure you will be happy with whatever you buy. |
Yeh the Fast intentions CBE does sound nice. My only concern with it is that it sits so low to the ground. I imagine speed bumps and irregular sections of road must cause it to scrape sometimes?
|
Welcome and congratulations on your new Z! There is a place here in Maryland, USA called AAM Competition that produces a 2.5 inch true dual exhaust for the 370Z. No issues with the height and scraping. They are a forum sponsor on here as well. Besides them, there are many types to choose from, just search the threads for exhausts and you find a ton of various types. Exhaust is usually a first major mod for folks and the 370Z.

|
K&N filters, castrol edge, rear fog light, stop-tech steel braided brake lines black chrome license plate brackets and I scotchguarded my cloth seats. :)
Up next. High flow cats, Ichiba wheel spacers, debating which coilover for 1" drop, stillen sways and resonator delete (for now) After that magic box/sub install with head unit, amps and speakers. Stop tech rotors and pads. After that. GTM AT upgrade kit. Valve body, clutches, and fluid. Lastly GTM stage II turbo/intercooler and GTM exhaust for 440rwhp, and cobb tune. Plano Tx |
First thing I did was rip out the god awful base sound system and headunit. Those speakers and radio didn't even last a week.
|
Tint was first on the list.
|
Added dynamat to the hatch and doors..made the car much more pleasant..imo well worth it..

Do you know about how much weight the dynamat added? |
The first thing I did, Tint. The last thing I did to my Z.... was I traded it in :D

I also added the Cloaking System from K company...it masks the car not only from radar and laser but also visible light so you are nearly invisible,.,.,kind of like the alien in Predator...it weighs only 25 pounds but costs $1800 but is well worth it..
Just dont forget to turn it off when other cars are on the highway as this could be dangerous.. |

Best Performance Upgrade for the Dollar
I have a base model 2011, and I am in love - but I am interested in investing in a few performance modifications.
Does anyone have insight on the best, most reliable performance updgrades for the dollar? Is it best to begin with the intake? The exhaust? Is there a "best" provider among these after market performance modifications? Thank you in advance for your help! Jeff |
Exhaust: Fast Intentions
HFC's, Test Pipes, or Long Tube Headers: Fast Intentions Intake: Stillen Gen 3 After all upgrades: Uprev Tune |
hfc or testpipes is a good place to start.
|
If I had to choose just one mod to hold me over until I did more, my vote is a HFC. Really wakes the car up, both sound wise and power. It's raspy though with the stock exhaust. But it's highly unlikely you just stop there anyways.
|
Sway bars. Cheap, easy to DIY, no warranty concerns, and you notice them every time you turn the wheel.
|
So, I'm flying up to Vegas next week to purchase my Z. I don't think I'm going to do a dealer installed clear bra, so what should I use to protect the front end on the drive back to Phoenix?
My first thing to do upon getting it home is to get the clear bra installed. |
Painter's tape. Lots of it.
