:D im in the same boat as you sir! Recently got my new Z and been struggling to pick the correct first mod but I've decided on Fast Intentions HFC and CBE. Best bang for buck to make the car that much more fun to drive! Twin Turbo should come later on LOL unless your rich then just get it all! woooO!

Astrosfan 03-19-2011 04:52 PM

Definitely the clear bra! then a radar detector

LunaZ 03-19-2011 04:58 PM

CBE, intake, springs, coil-overs, spacers, wheels, tires, HFC, LTH, pulleys, fuel gauge overlay, GT-R start button, short shifter, shift knob, chassis braces, drilled rotors, brake fluid, brake pads, illuminated kick plates, rear fog light, rear-view camera, grounding kit, Nismo radiator cap, open lugs, swaybars.

karotZ 03-19-2011 05:02 PM

My mods were done in the following order:

1st Mod: Springs, spacers, rear toe camber kit.

2nd Mod: Nismo Shift Knob, Red GT-R Button.

3rd Mod: Drilled & Slotted Rotors w/ Metal Matrix Pads, Front Blast Guard Removed.

4th Mod: CBE

5th Mod: Nismo Rims

And my next mod plan is not much of a mod but to get Nitto NT05 tires and Tein Super Street coils. :driving:

That's a lot for a first mod. :icon17:

If you make that the first and only mod, you're set for life!

More like the "almost set until you go turbo" mod package.

What the Hell, just add the TT kit in there too. And voila, you've equaled the cost of the mods to the cost of your car (if not more). Our job here is done, lol. :p

This is what I did first. Seal it up while your paint is still perfect!

My "mod" takes into consideration that the OP does not want cosmetic mods and he is trying not to void his warranty. :tiphat:

:iagree:

I have the Agency Power exhaust and love it.

Lemers 03-19-2011 09:02 PM

Black/white Paint scheme to make it look like a Japanese Police Car.

bigdog1250 03-19-2011 09:47 PM

Definitely get a clear bra while you have low mileage, especially in a black car. Springs + spacers are a nice improvement for roughly $500 and make the car look great also. And as others have said, this car is tame and needs exhaust! I'd definitely looking into Injen or G3 intakes for some nice power to go with the exhaust.

Other than window tint I dont plan on doing any type of appearance modifications to the car.
So with this information in mind, my question to you guys is what is the first few things I should do to this car? Keep in mind that I dont want to void the warranty!

Thanks
Ed

Start simple... pun intended. Plus it looks much nicer than the stock button.

Did someone say twin turbo yet?

If not, twin turbo.

It's been mentioned a couple times, I think it was actually like the 2nd or 3rd reply :icon17:

ProfessorDave 03-30-2011 07:34 PM

Real men do handling mods first.

That's why I did a cat back exhaust as my first mod :ugh2:

LunaZ 03-30-2011 07:44 PM

The true best mod is the driver mod.
Go to driving school!

KillerBee370 03-31-2011 06:17 PM

Wow. On page three and nobody mentioned what the real first mod should be. The first "mod" that went onto my car.... The oil cooler.

What good is everything listed above when you're in limp mode?

LunaZ 03-31-2011 07:43 PM

My sh1t has never gone limp.

Yes but do have a painful burning while urinating? :D

Pete370Z 03-31-2011 09:53 PM

The first thing I did was drop in K&N filters and then a couple of days later I did the Cobb post MAF tubes. I felt a bit of difference, I'd highly recommend you do that as your first mod. I just ordered test pipes and UpRev Osiris tune today, can't way for them to get here!

having seen ARK and HKS in person, i dont think there is a difference in the finish.

And while i cannot speak for the HKS on this, the ARK is sturdy as heck. Mine had hit the ground a couple of times (thanks driveway) but it never cracked, or anything. Just looks like a tiny scrape.

JayYoon 04-12-2011 05:55 PM

ask yourself... how much money are you willing to spend?

Nismo221 04-12-2011 05:57 PM

ClearBra should be your first mod. I wish I would have gotten one when I first got the car.

Dre22 04-13-2011 10:28 PM

i just bought my Z a week ago and been asking myself the same question but i think i ma go with intake first and then with an exhaust system =D

:iagree: with all 3 above. I have done the clear bra (immediately after purchase... my front end is CHIP FREE), then shift knob (nismo titanium....loooooooove the look and snickety feel it now gives me). This weekend I install my invidia exhaust!!!:driving:

This was my first mod as well. Had them install it with the new short block. I forgot all about sitting on the side of the road, cooling down. I forgot about it because it works so well. Limp mode or worrying about it stinks, the oil cooler is sound advice if you push your car at all.
