I like the look of the car except the rear end. That stupid triangle light thing ruins it all for me. I read somewhere it was supposed to be a tribute to some famous car but I can't find anything on it now

i can't believe you're actually asking this question lol
who in their right mind would get an FR-S over a 370z

Sounds like us when we say why we got the Z over a Mustang...

I chuckled at that too

"Japanese Mustang" is an interesting one too...

kenchan 03-13-2014 02:43 PM

i hope you younger kids in 370Z's dont go out 'showing' them BRZ/FRS folks wat your cars can do, and getting into pissing matches.

it's really sad watching that stuff.

You will receive a biased response on either forum lol

i wouldnt mind having a FRS if it was for my dd. but the price + lowering and wheels, exhaust, id need to get to make it mine would put me over $30K. doesnt make much sense to me.

and too slow for my area to drive as weekend car. it would just frustrate the hell out of me.

TheGreatOne 03-13-2014 04:13 PM

Am I delusional for thinking they sound delusional? lol.

I think its hilarious that somehow, compared to the BRZ/FRS they think the Z is a straighline car and can't handle when the Z is praised for its handling, not sraightline speed.

But maybe thats the arguement to use when you drive the slower car? Thats what we do with the faster Mustangs right? lol :rofl2:

kenchan 03-13-2014 04:20 PM

yah, when companies boast about handling, it usually means the car is slow.

kenchan 03-13-2014 04:21 PM

To each his own, but I think the FRS looks like crap. When you're behind one, the skinny tires look like bicycle tires. The styling is sooooo ricey imo. Altezza taillights in 2013/2014??? c'mon! That was sooooo 2000-2001ish. Plus, the profile of the FRS and its Subaru counterpart looks so "skinny." The vertical dimensions of the FRS look like a car from 10+ years ago, a la the 2000ish Celica. It looks like an "Integra competitor" albeit RWD, which is its only plus point imo. And lastly, the power is a joke for 2010+ standards. I don't expect it to have 350+hp...but at least 250 out the box, with its "Honda DOHC VTEC" esque "wuss torque" (6000+ RPM to hit peak).

Again, I'm not trying to flame. The FRS never grew on me.

I guess that means any BMW that's not a M-badge, or the turbo I-6?

i was thinking more in terms of like miata's and such in the FRS segment.

Whytlytnin 03-13-2014 04:57 PM

Don't do it. I Just traded my 13' frs for a 13' 370z in January. The frs was fun and handled amazingly, but its nothing compared to the Z. Its just too slow, it has an annoying fuel pump chirp, the taillights fill with water, and the interior is sub-par. Looks nice though...

edk370 03-13-2014 05:01 PM

^perfect balance of power and handling imo was the FD3S RX7. Not overwhelming power/acceleration wise, but no slouch neither. Handling was superb. Best sports car made in the last 2 decades....I just wish Mazda would quit making freak projects like the Rx8 with its hideous styling, hefty weight, and lethargic power....oh yeah, and horrible gas mileage.

Bring the real RX7 back! :)

The RX7 had even worse mileage.
Problem is added safety, they have to make cars heavier. And the STUUUUUPID rotary killed that pos

thread is starting to go off topic if we're starting to compare with cars over a decade old and no longer in production lol

onzedge 03-13-2014 05:39 PM

...starting to go off?????

TerribleONE 03-13-2014 05:43 PM

Unless you plan on modding the hell out of it, or your 370Z is a burden then no way!

True. That's why you do a LS V8 swap. At least they can get 20 mpg if you don't hammer it all the time :)....and they're reliable, a lot more than a rotary.

Lol don't get me wrong. The Z is a great sport car, and I am not bashing it (I had one and sold it but may get another one in a year or 2). What I meant is with the Z, you'll be running out of road much faster than a BRZ/FRS (or any other lower HP sport car) unless you are on a track. It's more fun for some people who like to work the engine to get the most out of it. If the OP is one of those, he might find the FRS more fun.

It's the same reason there is a huge Miata crowd. The car is girly. Yes. But there is also a huge fan base.

reading their forum everyone is hating on the Z... but then again were all hating on the FRS.

From a non-owners standpoint of view:
I'd hate to step on the gas and have the prius next to me keep up. Theyre cool looking little cars, and I wouldn't mind owning one to TT and throw around at the track. But I could never take them fully serious. It's like a teenagers car and kinda reminds me of those matchbox concept cars you can but.

yep, i think it's a great wannabie sports car for dd-ing around town. if one throws in a TT, it's waay over priced. better just getting another car.
they can hate all they want, but the reality is that their car is slow in real world driving.

Yeah it's basically Japanese muscle. It's kinda unrefined like a muscle car , and it has a weight to it unlike a lot of Japanese cars , nothing wrong with that.

Frs/brz are not bad but for me has to much of hollow feel. I like the twins but I also wanted something faster then the maxima I was trading in.

Depends on what you want. Twins might be more economical and a little more versatile but in a car I want speed over most everything else.
