World - Thoughts on what future Zs need

Well, 2 weeks ago traded the Z in on a Murano for my wife. Sad thing is I don't miss it much.. yet. It was fun while it lasted but in the end it just wasn't practical as all I did was drive it up and down the highway to work, splitting time with my truck, to the tune of 36k miles in 2 years. I've always loved Z cars and now at least I can say that I owned one and it was great.

Here are a couple of things that I would like to see changed, and factor in to why I gave it up, you may or may not agree:

1. Serious bump in horsepower/torque. It's time to bring back the twin-turbo or other forced induction. That 3.7 VQ has so much potential and it's been on the road for too long with no improvements. At the end of the day it couldn't challenge my F250 unless the road turned.
2. The Touring package should be an option in the Nismo. That car is too nice on the outside to get in and be underwhelmed by a bare bones interior and +18hp. Big wheels notwithstanding. It was the #1 reason I didn't go that route. Maybe 100% of Nismo owners race them and don't need the options... I can't say.
3. Beef up/quicken the 7AT. 'Nuff said.

You guys are good people, so now I'm officially changing my status to LURKER. If I get another Z, you'll be the 3rd to know!

axmea? 03-02-2014 09:38 AM

I agree with your suggestions. Exact reason why i did not get a Nismo. I'm still enjoying mine so it will be a long time before I consider selling or trade.

Fair enough, I feel you will find yourself missing it more in months to come.

 if your Z was stock then I can see how it would feel underpowered. 4wd boosted launches FTW!

Take Mr. JungleZ's advice -- he knows, having driven a leased stock Z.

$1500 got me about 550rwhp and 1100ftlbs in an 8000lb truck. And room for groceries...

DLSTR 03-02-2014 03:30 PM

Tweak the brakes - add 20hp and torque - Tune the exhaust and sharpen the steering. At speed on the Autobahn I don't get pushed around much and the car is up to the job, and I'm bone stock + the PSS. To keep a realistic price point it doesn't need much to be even better.

genesis2012 03-02-2014 03:53 PM

I felt the same way the OP feels about lack of power and practicality when I traded in my modded genesis coupe for a sedan.

It only took 2-5 months down the road when I begun to miss the sports car feel. Because of that look at where I am today lol. Sitting in another sports car.

It could have been an impulse thing that I wanted practicality > Sports, but in the long haul, you'll probably be running back into another sports car soon.

edk370 03-02-2014 04:07 PM

How about an engine with similar stats as Lexus' IS-F motor in the next Z?
400 hp, 380 ft./lb. of torque, high 12's at the slowest STOCK...Then I'll buy next Z. Otherwise I gotta stick with C7 or Porsche 991.

NismoNox 03-02-2014 05:21 PM

2015 Nismo is suppose to come with a technology package and a 7AT Tranny as options, a salesman let us kno pricing on the Nismo sub forum

RUFFSTUFF 03-02-2014 05:50 PM

Somehow I forgot to mention "Improve oil cooling!"

2xtreme1 03-02-2014 10:18 PM

Umm I think there should be a Z that is like fully loaded. Include some of the features some German car companies have to offer.
Pretty much a step slightly higher than the current touring+sports. I'm not really sure what I am getting at right here...
I just want a porsche 991 911 s :/ damn it.

How fast exactly is an F250 8000lb Monster truck with this "chip" or whatnot? Give me some stats...are those ridiculous lift kits with 99 inch tires involved too?

As fast as 42lbs of boost will allow. The answer to your question can be easily found...

Chuck33079 03-03-2014 09:50 AM

Do you only drive in straight lines? That's the only way I can see there being any comparison to a F250.

i was just about to type this up until i saw you beat me to it lol

kenchan 03-03-2014 10:01 AM

ok op, enough with the Z bashing. it wasn't a car for you.

good bye. :hello:

Chuck33079 03-03-2014 10:15 AM

I don't really see any Z bashing, but I do see the patented the370z.com bashing response to someone getting rid of their Z.

Why is it we jump all over someone who sells their Z?

if they do that it's gonna cost more on the price, would you like to pay more..?? you want a decent sports car that cost 40k to have all those..??

wake up dude.. :icon17:

bump in horsepower, then mod it, that's why people mod their car wisely to what they need/liking.

do you just drive straight?? while you're complaining the Z is not fast enough on a straight, why not praising it can corner better and it's fun to drive..???

(insert whatever you want) wisely. :icon08:

Amuse370z 03-03-2014 11:04 AM

After driving my dad's 03 accord sedan for 3 months. I hopped back in my Z for a short drive to warm her up and get the tires rotating.

I miss driving it so much, I don't even remember it being that fun to drive, I didn't appreciate driving it enough when it was my daily, thats for sure.

I had a smile on my face the whole time driving around my block, I even did an extra round just for the hell of it. That syncro rev match...

Wow... some of you need to improve your reading comprehension... A lot. I did not bash the Z. I got rid of it because it isn't practical for me right now. I had it, I drove it, I traded it in. Not much else there. And yes, if I were to buy another it would need to be improved over the current (as in the last 6 years) Z. Weird huh? Someone wanting new models to be improved over old...

To those living in the Land of the Offended, I don't care.
