It's ok. You must have missed a memo somewhere along the line. :rofl2: We will accept either 100% positive comments, or 100% negative comments. There's no room here for "it's a great car except..." type of comments. And if you ever sell your Z, you become some kind of traitor.

Seriously, this forum has a real problem with jumping on people who have to move on from their Z for any reason. It's pretty weak. People's lives and priorities change, but god forbid you ever sell your Z. That's unacceptable.

:icon17: offended? not really. just stop bashing the car. any decent company can make a better sports car at a higher price. can't afford it? then get a higher paying job.

im a dad with 2 kids. the Z is very impractical for my lifestyle too. i dont even consider my Z a "car." she is my weekend toy. same goes for my G. i dont drive them during the week, especially not in the winter.

like i said, the Z is an economy sports car, but never intended for the poor.
got more money? then dont buy the economy sports car.
cant afford it? then dont buy it.

I still don't see where he bashed the car. I see a lot of bashing bs from others, but how does the OP's comment get taken as bashing?

the car is quite competent where it is at the price point. unless the op doesnt know how to buy a car at a good price or something and got totally ripped off.

i think nissan gave us a very fair price for the car. not to forget the shitty exchange rate japan agreed to sacrifice back then for the world. people take too much for granted. that is the point of my view.

sad i had to spell it all out, but since you're chuck, i made special effort to type it all out for you. :icon17: ;)

Chuck33079 03-03-2014 11:40 AM

So saying the car could use some improvement to better compete with the other cars in its segment is bashing? That's not bashing, it's a statement of fact. Look at the sales numbers compared to other cars in its segment.

the other companies did not have an exchange rate disadvantage of 20% or more. are you not watching the news and realize that ALL of these things have direct connection to how much a company can invest and build a car?

i dont see how you take just one egg and make a huge ham and cheeze omelette. manufacturing does not work like that.

kitchen: got my delivery of one egg today... i know wtf... but i can make a great sunny side up today.

customer: wtf ? i said i want a huge ham & cheeze omelette!

kitchen: u want me to pull one out of my arse then? :ugh2:

sorry OP if you feel that way.

in response to your first post, I don't see you were bashing the Z.

in fact, I feel you are asking for too much from the Z in related to the amount of money you paid for the Z.

of course we all want more hp, more this and more that and a better car, but before you say that, have you ever think about how will it affect the cost?

thus it leads to is/are those demand/suggestions feasible to put on a 40k imports..??

if the Z does have what you demand, will that still cost 40k?

if it cost more than 40k, will you complain about the price? can you afford the price?

what can you get from a sports car that cost 40k?

that's the point.

Nissan isn't the only Japanese car company, and Japan isn't the only country with exchange rate fluctuations. And I don't know why you seem to be so set on defending the Z as perfect the way it is. It could use improvement. A loaded Z is a $40k car. In that space, there's better value to be had.

the exchange rate is only one of the facts that affect what does the product consist.

the most important is which market segment does the company target for that product.

For Z, Nissan is targeting the 35k-40k segment, what is the most they can put into the Z thus it has good power, equipments thus they can make a decent profit when they sell it at 35k and also the consumers are happy.

The Z, doesn't have the horsepower like a GTR, doesn't have the torque like a truck, doesn't have the luxury like a mercedes, doesn't have the style like a ferrari.

but it's a sports car with a very very good value.

Chuck33079 03-03-2014 12:25 PM

OK, I give. I don't have the patience for the eternal kenchan/alcheng circle jerk today. The OP was bashing the Z, which has no equal for its price and if you can't afford it you're poor.

yah, toyota...nevermind the supra, cant do it. :ugh:
mazda... you mean watz da? :ugh2:
toyotaburu came out with BRZ/FRS wow that was great, thanks. :ugh:
honda's answer was a CRZ that noone wants...lol :ugh:

nissan's answer while the others were tanking was (and still is) not a bad deal nor car at all, thanks to french guy. :D if you want to improve it you can. i personally dont see the need to do any serious mods on this car to enjoy it.

korea took advantage of japan's situation and so did domestics. so going back to my example... how do you expect to make a huge ham& cheeze omelette out of one egg? you can't. but hey, at least the sunny side up nissan made was affordable, healthy, and good. :yum:

On a separate note, drove my neighbors M3 on Saturday. The straight line acceleration is awesome but the grip...omg. Astonishing.

my2004Z 03-03-2014 01:46 PM

OP - Glad you got to experience a Z for a while and good luck with the SUV and Truck. Your opinions on the Z are duly noted and the backlash you are getting is this community's twisted way of saying that they'll miss you and that you should never come back :icon23:

You might want to look into some of the sports sedans out there since you seem to need more of the daily driver creature comforts that most sports cars simply won't deliver.

RUFFSTUFF 03-03-2014 02:43 PM

Where do you "brilliant" people get off thinking this was a financial decision? Did I ever say that? Maybe it was a "we don't need a truck, 3 cars and 3 motorcycles decision." No, obviously it had to only be a financial one... duh. I am certainly reconsidering my "good people" comment from earlier. Trust that if I had wanted to keep the Z, I would have, but I recognized my needs and took the appropriate actions.

Though I don't require your approval to live my life, I do appreciate your due concern for my well being. In fact, without your feedback, I might have gotten back into the Z game....

Jasonle 03-03-2014 03:14 PM

Wow this is ruff stuff. Good luck op :)

Tadpole 03-03-2014 03:15 PM

I had a 350z and traded in on a 2012 ford f150 with the coyote 5.0. Although impressed with the 365 stock hp, I soon realized that I was riding a couch. The Fords are nice trucks but down here in Texas they are a dime a dozen and the blah factor set in while driving it. In other words, I was nodding off while driving home from work or any other trip longer than 30 minutes. I put 5k on the truck and traded it in on my 370z and couldnt be happier. I guess I'm opposite of the OP but from a performance perspective from a F250 weighing in over 8k with 500 plus ponies still sounds boring and then comparing that to the Z?

Come on get real :bs:

XiP 03-03-2014 03:57 PM

Out of curiosity why didn't you keep the Z and let your wife drive that instead? Wife in a Z is much hotter than wife in a Murano lol :driving:

We discussed that and she doesn't like the rear/see side visibility and the serious lack of cargo space. She is much happier in the Murano. For those who are married you may be able to appreciate the sheer amount of bonus points I'm getting for this trade.

500hp is possibly boring. 1100ftlbs is not. Fact.

The smaller your balls are the more room you have.

Golf balls.

edk370 03-03-2014 06:43 PM

The next Z needs a V8. It needs the 5.6 Infiniti M56 V8 shoehorned into it. 400+ hp and 380lb.ft. of torque, 12 sec 1/4s....And its styling needs to revert to the Z32 style: GT styling a la Porsche Panamera or Porsche 928 style.

V8 twin turbo and optional AWD :yum:

UNKNOWN_370 03-04-2014 01:16 AM

Yeah... The Z needs a chassis from Ferrari, an engine from Lamborghini (850hp), a transmission from Bugatti, and a carbon fiber body for $30k.

That's a lot of torque, but not my idea of fun. But I'm not a pickup guy. To each his own.

And wow....this thread is full of fail....
