Before I bought the 370z I drove the 375hp manual challenger and really wasn't impressed, after driving all the sports cars out in 2012 I decided on a 2012 vette with manual and a sports package equivalent.

The 425 hp really beat anything else, even the Z , I would have got the corvette but the dealer screwed up the paint on delivery and cancelled the deal and on the way home I spotted my pearl 370z on display, and bought it on the spot.

Hind sight I should have waited for the dealer to get another vette , the 330hp of the Z is just to little.

Also with the challenger, as much as I love mopars , my father had a 1969 440 rt charger
and got to drive it when I was 12. The challengers interior just really looks to cheap, like and old 80's dodge van , Rubber Maid garbage can material look.

Now if Dodge would only make a real 1969 or 1970 charger again, with 2 doors and 425 hp again , not a Chrysler 300 with Charger emblems on it.

You should really test drive the new camaro, mustang and even the new vette if you can afford it.

While the new vette is probably the best deal out there right now, I really wish I had a back seat in the Z, you really find most ppl getting rid of a 2 seat sports car due to it being to small, than ppl going the other way from bigger to smaller.

It's rare to see 370s where I live, but I see challengers on a daily bases, besides the srt.

I see the 370Z getting a big boost in HP to compete or it may as well drive off into the sunset. Power to the pavement, eh? Lots of cars of similar weight or much less are doing 0-60 in less than 4.5 secs. No reason why the Z can't. Put beefier tires on the back.

I can afford a SRT but really hate too spend $45,000 on a car
A friend was telling me how a Lower HP Porche could beat a 500Hp Vette in a 1/4 mile(makes no sense too me}
As I said the reason I might think of a change is cause I owned a 2009 and 2012 RT but Thought Dodge would be doing some kind of a upgrade(guess I am wrong } But looking at pictures online of the 370z I feel that can be my next car .That's why I want to know about a near future upgrade in looks of the 370Z...........JT

As of now I have no clue what I want after speaking to a friend.
A friend tells me that the V6s sound like Ricers or indy type of cars and nothing like a big block engine. Since the Rpm of the challneger are 6000 - 7000 and I am sure the 370Z are a lot higher in the RPMs?.....I do like the RUMBLE of a car even if a 370Z is faster and
not having that American Rumble sound........Thanks all for your input.JT

...aaand it just got a little trollish, didn't it?

I'm going to come across like a jerk, but here are a few of my immediate thoughts:

1) Have you ever been in any V6 powered car?
2) You've managed to find this 370Z community online, but you haven't browsed YouTube for 370Z videos to listen for yourself?*
3) You are relying on a friend to tell you what a Z sounds like...and you're surprised to find out a 3.7L V6 doesn't sound like a big block V8?
4) The Challenger R/T's 5.7L redline is 5800 rpm. The 6.1L's is 6400. The Z's is 7500 rpm.
5) Why would you be looking for "that American Rumble" in a Japanese V6-powered sports car?

I agree that rumbly V8's can sound ridiculously good, but referring to the VQ37's admittedly quiet stock exhaust note as "ricer" sounds like it comes from a guy who would scoff at a S2000 or NSX as a "rice rocket" from behind the wheel of his clapped-out 4th gen Camaro.

*Winding Road made a 370Z YouTube clip that is a great intro to how the Z sounds:

I can agree a 370Z might kick a Challengers or Camaros butt
As a lot of imports that can also kick A$$ of many of the American cars.
But I forgot about the Big block sound
I know what Porches Lambos and many Japanese cars sounds like at a red light and yes
once they take off it will make a american car look foolish since the Import will be at the next stop light waiting for the American car to catch up......But I do love the big block sound and still not sure if that's a deal breaker...Thanks.JT

Oh my, you are misinformed. There are a few American made cars that are pdq and will see all but a few offshore cars in the rear view. Anyway, you can make anything go fast if one has the money.

I think we're getting punked.

It was quite obvious from the get go...but the point is we weren't aroused by it and didn't start bashing him or his car....we are above that on this forum.

Glad you weren't "aroused" by it; that would just be weird.

And yes, no one ever has bashed a troll on this virtuous slice of the interwebs. /sarcasm

Guess you haven't come across JungleZ or any other serial troll. Those guys have earned their bashing.

Now now lets play nice on the "370z" forum. Theses VQ sound great with some mod..... Just like the V8 challenger, u need mods for it to rumble.

This is V6 with mods.....

The 370Z sounds good ,I guess I will have to check the cars on youtube and see how Most sound stock......

2010 Challenger Exhaust Comparison - YouTube

IDZRVIT 02-02-2014 02:08 PM

You want rumble? Change the stock cam to something with longer duration with a lower lsa like 108. Now, go google and then come back with a better understanding of what gives an engine that nice rumble that you seek. Exhaust and cai doesn't do it. Btw, I'm referring to American engines where you can actually change the cam and it's a relatively easy mod.

Duc_Z09 02-02-2014 03:19 PM

OP: It sounds like what you're looking for is a 2011+ 5.0 Mustang. Stock vs stock it will beat an SS Camaro and absolutely eat your Challenger for breakfast.
