I've owned both.
The Z gets better gas mileage and is a smoother ride. It looks better and has a more mature/classy feel to it. Obviously, only 2 seats and minimal storage. I didn't mind much about the storage until I owned my Jeep. It is nice to have the space. The X is a lot quicker, bolt on for bolt on. It does not look as good bone stock, but gets much much better with good wheels/offset. The ride is much rougher than the Z, but the steering is a lot more nimble. The Z drives like a GT car while the X drives like a sports car. Also, the Z is much quicker stock for stock.
