Full Amuse or Full Interior Audio Set UP
So im in a dilemma, I have about 1500 Dollars to play with
First Option: Full amuse with paint and install Second Option: Headunit, Front Speakers, Amp, Sub, Zenbox, RearCam, and Install Both run me about the same If it was you what would you do? The Kit is used lol, But in great condition its a friend of mine who has the kit, i worked out the prices and i know for sure i can get both done for roughly 1500-1600. so pricing aside. what would you do. |
Go with audio. Nothing more pleasing that cruising around with some great music that sounds like it is supposed to. Body kits are nice but you can't enjoy unless your outside of your car and the defeats the purpose.
|
i dont think you can go with option 1 for that amount of money

If it was me.. and my plan for my Z.. I'm doing all show first, my Z has plenty of go and I'm not an audiophile, that's just me. My advice to you, figure out what is more important to you. |

I don't ever blast music or anything, every car I've owned - stock speakers have always been enough so between the 2, I'd go with exterior. $1500 is tight though to get a whole kit, and painted IMO. |
Neither.
|
Full Amuse kit unpainted is over 5k, even a replica might not even run you 1500.

How can you get a kit with paint and install for 1500? That body kit made out of cardboard? |

If it has to be one of the two, do the audio. For $1500 parts and labor, the body kit is going to look like ****.
|
Well im getting the kit for like 700 haha so with 900 for paint install is too small of an amount?

What modifications do you already have?
Amuse kit requires the right ride height and the right rims (style and offset) to look good. So if you don't have the other components yet, your car will look worse. And 900 bucks to fit and paint match your blue? Unless you know the shop well, knows how to judge a good paint job from a bad one, and getting this done at cost, you risk your car look like *** (at worst), or seeing the color difference every time under sun light (possible even with decent workmanship). Body panel is metal, the kit will be fiberglass/plastic/not metal, it will need some blending to make it look right. Audio is the saver bet if you must spend the $. |
Also, is your car fixed?
|
I vote for bolt on mods
|
Maybe snow tires and winter wheels?
|
I wouldn't go cheap on an amuse kit. Do it right!
Given the two options, I would spend some of that on audio. Not all of it. Set some cash aside and save for an amuse kit the right way, if that's what you desire. |
Amuse kit in a heart beat! No offence but I'm a type of guy who can careless about stereo. If my OEM stereo broke down the first day of the ownership of my Z, I wouldn't bother going back to getting it replaced even if it's under warranty. I would rather listen to the song my Z sings than the stereo ::tup::

Get Exhaust.... No need for audio then

Amuse! Honestly I havent researched amuse options or any of that on any Z vehicles
So my care for amuse and their products are well. non existent. Simple. :icon17: |
Amuse for 1500? OP you might wanna check with your friend again. Something doesn't seem right. Also... If I had 1500 dollars I would probably opt for an exhaust setup

Never enough power. |
Amuse Kit, just because I want to see what a 900 dollar paint and install job looks like.
|
Ive taken a look at the amuse kit and its great it was fitted on his car when i was looking at it. And sadly no the car wasnt fixed yet, still have a slowly rusting rear quarter panel. Quick question now that topics up, can i just cut out that section of the panel order a new panel cut the new panel and weld it to the existing quarter panel? And paint should be around 700-800 for bumper, front and rear, and skirts. I dont see install costing more than 200 to be honest. Also im slightly leaning towards audio as well. Minus the sub and amp for now. Dropping my overall price to about 500 and then i can use some of that money to pay the car.

Where do you get your numbers for paint and install? They're way low for any kind of reputable shop. That's Maaco prices. |
why do u want a massive audio setup in a 370z? repair car, put wheels and coils on, car looks better than rusted car with subs...
|
What about a bent up, rusted car with a poorly painted and fitted body kit on it?
|
Well that was with play around money, im planning on doing everything in one go.
And im not sure if its the internet and the tone comes off wrong. But could you guys just let up a tad on the judging and slightly patronizing comments. If they arent meant to be like that then it doesnt matter but if you guys could just kind of, let up a bit, its hard to post when your expecting people to bash you on your decisions. |

A quality paint job is Not cheap, no matter what it is usually. And for an entire body kit, anything sub $1k is questionable... I would ask to see other vehicles they have done a similar job on to see the quality for myself. As for me, I am an audiophile, and I have a DD HU and Amp/Subs. I love it. I understand it's the equivalent to having a dead hooker in the trunk in terms of performance, and that's kinda cool. But I made sure that with 3 wires, it's disconnected and I can pop the whole box out for tracking. |
what about stancing the car? could be a good way to use the coin

Plus, if you're still driving around on your summer tires in snow and ice, any body work is pointless because you're just going to bend the car up again. You have bought appropriate tires and wheels, correct? |
Quote:
A good set of winter wheels/tires shipped to your door ready to mount with all necessary hardware will cost you, maybe $1200. Depending on which wheel/tire you choose... |
would u have stock ride height and wheels with the body kit?
|
Before you decide, get better numbers for the kit install-paint and fixing the rust of course. Don't just count on your own estimates. Either way, seems like you still have a balance on your car loan. Why don't you pay that off first?

Get a quote from a GOOD body shop. One with nice cars in the lot. One that has positive word of mouth. I guarantee it'll cost more than you think. I also guarantee it'll look worse than you think if you go to the place that gave you the original quote. Quote:
