Is the 370Z really THAT loud???
In the previous Z model (the 350), the biggest complaint was it was too plain and cheap looking on the inside. Well, I liked the way that cabin was built: simple, plain, cut to the chase of raw sports car and power. I didn't have any complaint regarding the interior of the 350, not even the lack of a glovebox.
Now in the 370Z, the main complaints are: too loud and rough ride. I'm getting mine on Wednesday so I can't really check it out yet. But can you long time 350Z previous owners tell me if it is worse in the 370Z than the 350Z? It's a pure sports car, if you want a GT, then get a 370Z. |
what?? the 370z is better in every way.
just like the G37 is better in every way to the G35 |
Is it louder than 350Z, hell yeah. The thing is I find that as a good thing. The 350Z didn't sound like it had the grunt that it does. The 370Z "loudness" is very much appropriate for the performance. It's much quieter during normal driving than 350Z. It's when you get into high RPMs when its loud.
I find the ride simply more comfortable on 370Z even on the low profile tires with sport package. That may be due to seats and everything else but the bottom line is that it's more comfortable. |

it's not loud, it's what a chunky V6 should sound like...lol
quit reading reviewer articles, it's what you like that matters |
Good question and great responses!! Don't listen to the car review. I am sure a Z06 is loud and rough when compared to a Bentley.
BTW - LOVE you user name MeetJoeAsian! I get it.... |
you're going to like it.... trust us man..... go for a test drive and come back here and say it's loud.... i dare ya

The 370Z is nowhere near as rough as the 350Z ('03). The car is so much more comfortable and confident to drive.
As for "loud," the 370Z exhibits a roaring road noise on certain roads. I think a different set of tires might alleviate this problem, but it's no deal breaker. Regrets? None. |

I said this before too. Do you think Ascari or Koenigsegg owners complain that their cars are too loud? No one who wants a sports car should complain about hearing the engine.
The car and engine sound great. There is some road noise which may be what the reviewers are noting. It's not the end of the world or a car-killing fault. You'll get used to it quickly. |
i want to hear the engine and exhaust when i rev it up and go.
|
370z= much improved ride from 350z. When driving my 370 compared to my 350, the 370 feels much more refined. I feel as though I am driving an exotic vs the 350 felt like a nissan. Also, you're driving a sports car, do you want it to be silent? The stock 370z sounds just like it should.
|
I do not think it is loud enough, I want to heard! Damn it!
|
road noise depends on the road conditions, smooth roads=little noise.engine is much quieter than my z06,
|
The engine and exhaust when stock is SILENT in this car!
|
My friend who owns a 335i always complains how loud the road noise is on the Z.
|
370Z Noise
My modified 350Z road noise was similar to my 370Z. You can hear most pebbles hitting the rear wheel wells as in the 350Z. One can spray on Lizard skin (availabel at Eastwood) in the wheel well to reduce the road noise or turn up the volume in the radio.
|
I test drove it for about 30 mins, I thought it was great, no problem with the noise or anythinh else. I just want one!
|
I think it has very nice engine tone and exhaust growl...now, I'd be happy with more, but I'm not disappointed with the stock version.
Part of the road noise is solely related to the Bridgestones. If you lift a tire off the ground with a jack, rap on the tire tread with your knuckles. The things are like bongo drums. |
I think 80% of all rod noise complaints come from little rocks hitting the rear wheel wells when they come off the sticky tires. simple fix with about 20 bucks worth or dynamat

I kind of view the g37 as "fat" compared to the g35 |

I have an '04 350 with a Nismo exhaust and test drove a 370 Nismo. I thought the 370 was much quieter on the road than the 350. The exhaust note on the 370 was also really muted.
My perception of the lower road noise on the 370 could be because my 350 needs an alignment. |
I personally dun think it's that loud stock.
It's louder than the 350z but it sounds alot nicer imo. |

My 370 has a quieter cabin than my 05 350 but the engine has about 40 more hp so naturally when you get on it it's going to have a deeper voice. But it sounds great! Are you buying a sports car or a living room couch? The ride is stiff but awesome. This is a great sports car. If you want quiet and smooth get a cadillac.
|
It really depends on the road surface you drive on. For whatever reason the tires roar like crazy when driving over specific types of pavement like textured concrete, which what all the roads in houston are made of. Driving on asphalt there is very little noise.

When I get a chance to drive this car I'm in luv. People complain of harshness at high revs as well. Truthfully. It wouldn't be japanese if it didn't rev harsh up top. My rx 7 was a bigger screamer than my wife n I luvd every minute of it. Yeah it sounds like the engine is crying. No not like its about to break. More like its shooting an m63a at the enemy and it doesn't care if it lives or dies after the battle. And truthfully. If u don't like the way it sounds u can either make it louder, deeper or quiet it down with an aftermarket exahaust. This is a whole lot of car for the money. Don't go by the reviews. Test drive. I've done 3 Z test drives. 2 genesis coupe test drives 2 camaro test drives (v8) 1 mustang test drive . I had no intention of buying the american cars. I just wanted to see how they compared. The Z's handling is soooooooo superior to any of these cars. That engine harshness tire noise and all those I can replace 4 a few bucks issues go out the door. You can get a camaro or mustang. And have some serious power and a lot of fun. They sound good. Handle great in a everyday car kinda way. N have high end power the z falls a lil short on. BUT, THEY WILL NOT OUTRUN THE Z ON A HIGHWAY CUZ THEY CAN'T OUTMANEUVER A Z ON THE HIGHWAY. These cars have no leg on the Z cuz the Z is a different breed. Get yourself a z base/sport package. Carbon fiber hood n 1/4 panels. Lower it n add sways, intake headers and exhaust n grounding kit... plus your flywheel set up. Maybe 5grand? U will definately be in porsche handling for real. So 38k will make u a 70k porsche stomper. Lol. This car is the best overall performer of the bunch I just mentioned. And that's long test drive experiences. Not a ride around the block. Solo rides for 1 hour. U can really get the impression really well if u do it that way. I'm goin this weekend to north texas nissan for test drive #4 lol. I talk to the dealers while I'm out there. Get a feel for them. Throw preliminary numbers and feel out who I can work with. So far its don davis and nissan of fort worth I'm likin best. By the time I actually buy the z. I will have 8 to 10 hours free driving time wasting other peoples gas. Lol its great. I'm gonna also get at that genesis coupe 1 more time. That's a unique and intriguing car. I consider it the 2nd best handler n nearly tie with the Z as far as a value goes. |
i recently drove my 09 370z about 2000miles on the highway. wheel noise is a bit tiring (norfolk/richmond va. has some of the crappiest roads i've ever encountered). but as others have stated.... it's a sports car not a cadillac!! i'm researching how to dampen the wheel well noise (all suggestions appreciated). engine 'noise' is 1/3 of the fun. ditto: no regrets
|
Compared to my other car, the Z is like a Cadillac. Soryy I did not own a 350
|
I feel that the 350z had a more harsh ride than the 370z. It seemed horrible with bumps in the road where as the 370 feels more comfortable. I have Stillen sway bars and I love the way it rides. Yea, the tire noise is abit worse than the 350, but IMO it's a better car overall. BUT..I personally liked the stock note of the 350 more.
|
It lets in more road noise than vehicles I've owned in the past, althought it isn't loud enough to bother me. On top of that, I'm a "loud music" driver, so I have to try hard to hear it.
|
I have a '10 Z Roadster and an '08 Miata. My Roadster got tagged in a parking lot (on day 4 if you can believe it...I nearly cried) so it's in getting a new rear fender. As such I took the Miata for a highway drive of about 45 minutes each way yesterday.
Compared the the Miata, top up or down, the Z Roadster is very, very quiet. I miss it terribly! |

I find the 370 suspension to be on the upscale side and the sound to be as true to a V6 sports car as can be. If you want quiet? They make a plethora of sedans. If you are a sports car nut. The Z's "LOUD" exhaust note will make u bust in ya pants.
