Black bra's defeat laser detection?
I read the following "recommend additional products that can help delay vehicle detection by police radar and laser. The simplest is a black bra used to protect the front of a vehicle from road debris and stone chips. Because it covers much of the vehicle's reflective surface, a black bra dramatically reduces the light reflected back to a laser gun."
The article says that even the best radar/laser detectors do not really work with cops using the latest laser detectors. Sure, your detector goes off but its too late. Guy says the most you can do is reduce the reflective surfaces that lasers are aimed at, generally, the license plate/front area. They look ugly but if they can help? |

And yet still illegal. :)
And she still might have the Crazy. Or the Herpes. |
if you want laser protection, simply get a jammer (look into laser interceptor, skip blinder). our cars have pretty nice grills for them to be mounted very, very steathly to avoid any detection, at least in the front.

If this is true, which I highly doubt, wouldn't a matte vinyl wrap achieve the same thing?

Simple solution.
1- Steal your neighbors plates 2- hit the gas 3- don't stop |
Total BS. My wife wears a black bra (a nice one from Victoria's Secret with lace and a little push-up effect) and I got nailed on radar while she was in the car with me.
|
I can see that it might help a bit, but not like it makes you invisible or anything. We know a hard, flat surface bounces signals the best, so a soft surface wouldn't work quite as well. But who knows if it helps by 1%? 10%? 25%?
|
A black bra or matte vinyl wrap wouldn't work, IMO.
You need something that will absorb the light/LASER, a black bra still reflects it. Unless you can get your hands on the highly-secretive military aircraft paint they use for stealth, I think your best bet is to get a LASER jammer, or just drive slower. |

There is some truth in that a matte vs a polishes surface is less reflective to light and offers some small benefit, i'm sure it's negligible with the power a laser is putting out. |
Even if it doesn't bounce back, the cop can still eye ball your speed. It's happened to my wife before, he said he guessed that she was going over the limit because she was passing other cars.

That stupid story has been around for 30 years!

I changed it up for you. and LOL @ "the Crazy". |
I had an LI on my 350z and it was MONEY.
The few times where I wasn't quick enough to slow down and turn it off so the LEO could get a legal reading I just enjoyed watching him tap his laser gun trying to figure what happened. |

A black thong keeps them from getting you from behind.

Seriously, kensan is right. Save the speed heroics for the track. |
Black Bra / Red Z
I certainly do not think my black bra on the red convertible with a black top looks ugly. I've got a lot of complements on it . Recently from Officer Bennett, with the Texas Highway Patrol, as he issued me a warning ticket for not displaying my license plate, and a mere 70 in a 65 zone.
Cheers, Chuck |

To the OP, try it out. Put a black bra on your car and fly down the road. Just not my fault when
a) you get your license taken away b) the bra scratches the crap out of your paint |
take it to the track
|
Your headlight reflectors bounce 90-95% of the energy back to the gun. You have to mask them to get any real change in detection range.
