The 7AT is phenomenal, and its manual mode is just as fun to me as a true manual, but at the same time it is still not the same thing. Sometimes you just gotta have that foot action going on.

Its no doubt quicker than manual in a drag (I maybe could present a weak argument with a **** hot rower but...), first hand experience on the track at Sebring the manual out performs the auto. Its not PDK quality, its good, but not really designed for that.

I traded the 7AT for a 6MT and am infinitely glad for it (and I live in the DC area).

I will say that the 7AT is the single best AT I have ever owned and seemed MUCH faster than the 6MT, especially at launch. That thing is no joke.

, and my 370z is not my daily driver, and i ordered mine while Japan as a country and Nissan were recovering from that horrible Tsunami, around the time i met my boy Kenchan here on the forum (Kenchan really helped me by letting me know to drive my girl vanity first before changing around my suspension). I enjoy driving cars with the paddles more (supercars too), plus with the 7AT you get the option of the shifter or the paddles something that's rare on any automatic transmission regardless of the manufacturer, shift speed is on point with other pricier transmissions available from other manufacturers too! Bottom line, enjoy what your driving life is short!

6MT is nostalgic too.

I like the feel. Though, I think my next car will be AT as long as it has paddles, and that may not be by choice. Porsche doesn't have MT anymore.

Mine is a daily driver and I have to fight traffic, so the auto was a no brainer for me. My calf goes to sleep driving my Challenger to work in that traffic.

In manual mode I don't see there being much difference sound wise. I have video of my auto in manual mode with the FI exhaust on my site and YouTube Channel and it is glorious.

Preference is something I can surely understand. I wouldn't want an auto in my Challenger as a muscle car should be manual trans. Having said that if I break too much more crap in that car racing it I may do an auto conversion eventually and quit throwing good money after bad. It seems the manuals are much harder on parts for that 4300 lb pig. Do they not have beefed up parts for the autos for power?

take off sound is musical on a MT (first you dont hear a drivetrain cluck getting into D in a MT after a quick flash of reverse light

), and the car has a breath and exhale rhythm going up the gears while accelerating. where as AT, it's exhale followed by a flat lower pitch, exhale followed by a flat lower pitch, etc.

downshifts are pretty similar though.

Unless you are just a die-hard Mopar guy, I would trade that Challenger in for a Mustang. I felt like I was driving a boat when I test drove the Challenger, whereas the Mustang, and even the Camaro, were just so much more fluid and responsive.

They do, but to build it up enough to handle the torque from a "normal" turbo build you're looking at spending a lot of money.
