I don't understand what kind of advice you're looking for.... The best advice I have for you is to stop using double negatives.

The public school system seems to have failed this poor fellow.

back on topic: if you're having fun why are you complaining about the transmission? Your post is full of inconsistencies. "I never go over 6500 rpm" followed by "hit that mark 2x" lol. Stop worrying about driving hard and fast. Just have fun and stay in school.

Why the need to always insinuate that people are dumb? Im sure the school system has done its job, we all know how shitty the school system is anyways?
Im sure if you werent a car enthusiast and you lacked knowledge on what the norm is and whats not im sure you would want to ask as well. Is hitting 6500 rpm high well if the maximum is X then maybe you should go near the X due to it meaning your redlining which means your pushing the engine that much harder? And OP locally i shift no higher than 3500rpm, when yielding out onto a highway/freeway/w.e elseway i usually shift around 6k.

Sorry for bringing some sense back into this, hopefully the thread goes on?:ughdance::tiphat::stirthepot:

I like to set the shift light to 3,000 RPM. That way I get that look that I'm racing, when I'm just putt-putting along. :ugh2:

It's not the questions he's asking, it's how he's asking them. Internet forums are places where we communicate by writing. You dont have to post a masters thesis, but you do have to write in such a manner as to be understood. It's not a text message to your buddies. The better we understand the question, the more effort well put into answering it.

And if the redline is set at 7500 rpm from the factory, there is no issue whatsoever running up to it on a regular basis.

So what are we saying? If I'm going to the bar make sure I hit the rev limiter so I can get there faster.:driving:

A couple of times won't hurt anything. Just try to keep it under 4k rpm for the first thousand miles, change the oil and romp on it to your heart's content.

Out of curiosity, what are the effects if you shift over 4 k

ALSO SORRY IF THIS HAS BEEN BROUGHT UP i couldnt find it and after i ended up in the honda forum searching via google i gave up ]=
(Shouldve gotten the 6MT fml )

Here's my advice:
  • Sell the Z
  • Get a Prius
  • Leave your wife/girlfriend/boyfriend/whatever
  • Quit your job
  • Sell all your stuff
  • Read the book "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance"
  • Buy some audio books on grammar/English
  • Hit the road for 12 to 18 months
  • Do not speak with anyone the entire time
  • Come home
  • Join a 12 step program
  • Enroll in a continuing education class or two
  • Come back to the forum after your head has cleared and you have achieved a level of enlightenment beyond your current pathetic state

Good luck!!!! Let us know how it works out.

Have a great day.

I might have to do this. I just got a speeding ticket... my second of 2013. Before getting the Z, my most recent citation happened in early 2006.

To answer OP's question, I think driving hard in this car is kind of impossible on the street without entering felony territory. Full throttle at 6.5 revs can be terrifying, especially with the vibration in the manual gear lever.

jaedub 11-07-2013 12:23 AM

I think the break in period for the Z was either 2.5k or 3k miles. Till then, I wouldn't really stress the engine too hard. I'd personally play under 4k RPM. Maybe 5k sometimes :)

jaedub 11-07-2013 12:24 AM

And you should've gotten the 6MT. So much more fun IMO.
