There's no way he stays stock if he gets the Z. I agree he will most likely dot he CAI/HFC/CBE combo with a tune or at the very least a CBE. 325 whp isn't that easy to get though. If he goes TPs or LTHs he might get there on a cool day.

if you're still into that heavy modding scheme, chances are you should probably stay where you are until you're satisified (or worn out), maybe even consider getting a sti/evo and play with that first before getting the Z. otherwise you probably wont understand why the Z is the way it is and might not enjoy the car as much. |

Ummmm.... Let's do a "visual" comparison. Your b@d@@s Si and a stock 370Z.
|
tires would be wat, 225 vs 285 ?

FWIW I've owned a lot of cars and recently test drove several 370z and I get what you mean that it doesnt feel as fast as you would expect. It is because it has the most linear power delivery possible so you never get a surge and that lack of surge makes it feel slow. To prove the point, try to out accelerate something to give you relative speed such as passing on the highway. It is then you really can tell it has the power, its just a bit too smooth to feel powerful. This is part of why people usually love turbo's even if the ultimate power delivery is low, when they surge on boost, it feels much faster than it is.
One big thing you should notice between your Si and the Z is highway cruising. EDIT: I should add it is also a very tall geared car, especially in 2nd which is as tall as a C5 Z06 with 130 less torque. |

i know some people dont get that. But by doing that, every time i do get a chance to drive the Z, its like a "special" opportunity, and it keeps the car feeling new and exciting longer. IMO |
I was just curious, then I learned something
After reading the op's post, I learned that the people here are very nice, much nicer than me. That's because I don't give a F if he buys a z or not. At least I learned something :icon17:

I drove a Mugen Si and it was a lot of fun. The car is quick and I LOVE hitting VTEC yo! But in the end the z is way more fun because of the power, handling and speed. Which leads back to the point: Drive both and decide on your own if you have a brain and emotions you should be able to figure it out

I think the important thing to remember is you shouldn't buy it because you think you should want it or others think you should. You should only buy it if you want it. If you're wanting a sports car and not sold 100% on the Z you should test drive other options.

So like other people have mentioned before... Don't Buy a Z!!!!!! |
I didn't read all the replies, but if you find the right dealer you can get a better deal than that. Add about 4k and it's poss to be in a 2013 base+ sport with less than 3k on it. Especially from a dealer that sells them seasonally and lowers the prices the later it gets.
|
Buy a Z.
|
if you need to be convinced to buy a Z than stay away
you have to want to buy one, you shouldnt have to be sold on one |
It took me about 2 weeks to really feel comfortable in the z and get a real feel for it

If you're worried about getting a better deal on your trade-in, why not go to a Carmax (if you have one in your area) and see what they'll give you for your car. Their offer usually is good for a week. Doing that will give you an idea how much to expect for your trade-in.
As for the Z, I bought mine used in '09 with 7,000 miles for $25k I have a MagBlack Sport Base 7AT. The dealer wanted $31k for it but since I didn't HAVE to buy it but I just really wanted one, I went with a low ball offer. The sales guy laughed at me but we went back and forth until we settled on $25k. Of course I told him a little white lie that another dealer across town was selling me one for $25k but I didn't like the color or some crap like that. , The point is, make them an offer, you've got nothing to lose. Yeah, they may laugh at you but hey, it's your money. The Z was my DD until April last year, that's when my daughter was born. Now, it's my friday-sunday car. Mon-thursday I drive my beater Hyundai Elentra. Goodluck with everything. |

I check our source for trade in valve national average on your car is 9500, and no dealer will care its boosted or whatever mods you have. Sell it private party if you want more, its how the system works...Probably had a bad CSC, thats common unfortunately.

OP- just on the first page of the for sale forums. I didn't pay attention to where they're located, since a Southwest Airlines ticket is under $200.
Nismo- http://www.the370z.com/370z-sale/811...deal-here.html loaded 2010 Touring/Sport with nav and less miles- http://www.the370z.com/370z-sale/809...z-touring.html I'm not vouching for either car, I'm just pointing out that there's other options, some of them better, at or around your price point. |
I was rushing to take a walk before it rained :)

He also gets tax credit for his trade. Many if not most Honda owners like their own mods..Most of the time people's mods deduct the value. It looks like this guy doesn't want to do the deal. Finding a buyer for a modded older car & getting the price he's looking for can take forever, if ever. He just wants us to beg him to buy a Z. That's how I see this, & I'm sticking to it. Therefore my msg. to him is still, PLEASE DON'T BUY A Z...... |
