Nissan execs diss FRS/BRZ
Nissan exec Andy Palmer derides Toyobaru coupes as 'midlife crisis' cars - Autoblog
This is a hysterical article....:roflpuke2: |
he's obviously trolling to drum up interest before the tokyo motor show, but still funny.
|
Nissan better have something better then.
|
Silvia would be nice.
|
If the BRZ/FRS is the new midlife crisis car, the economy really has beaten us up. It used to be a Vette or Viper. :rofl2:
|
Be hilarious if they pulled out a FWD altima coupe. :rofl2:

If I'm looking for a midlife crisis car, I'll buy a used C6 for the same price as a new BRZ.

The FRS/BRZ is either a slow car that's fun to drive fast, or an entry-level rwd for kids graduating from their Tcs. It's a rwd civic Si, not a midlife crisis car. I like them, I'm just not caught up in the hype. My GF is buying one early next year. It's the perfect "starter sports car".

yah..
Toyota was also blaming subaru for the high manufacturing cost of the drivetrain or something... If the frs/brz was $20k, it probably would not have been a midlife crisis car? More a 20 something car. |
Why offer a detuned version of the vq37? That seems a little backwards. Even if they drop significant weight, idk why they would put the vq37 in it and make less hp out of it...
Obviously that part of the article is a rumor, so ill take it with a grain of salt lol. |

The Z is my quarter life crisis car:ughdance:
|
z is an accomplishment car for a dad with family.
|
on the contrary, maxima is the failed attempt car for dad with family. :icon17:
|
I'm just glad car makers are realizing there's a place in the market for light, nimble rwd coupes again.

Arrogant bastard. That's when you loose the edge. Mr. Palmer sir -- my wife calls my decision to buy the Z as mid life crisis. What do you have to say to that?

A lot of these people grew up with AE86 or Datsun 240z so for them a RWD Toyota 4 banger might be the "best" they can go for with midlife, because they never learned to save or generate any net worth to play with. |
Z is the car for a dad who's still single and avoiding finding out about his kids until they're well past 18.
(It's a common joke I make, so it kinda falls flat when you don't know me in person, but just go with it!) |
going with it

out of this bunch our 370z is the hardest car to keep for a dad with family cause he would need at least another car to do daily tasks...given he is a responsible dad. :icon17: at least for me, it's not easy owning a Z and having 3 other cars to take care... while raising 2 kids. not enough time. :rofl2: http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/w...oupe-Gen-Y.jpg http://carnewscafe.com/wp-content/up...by_.gender.jpg |

When you can get a thrashed one for $10k it'll be a fantastic track car. |
the problem with brz is that it looks like a damn tomica car. needs wheels and lowering at minimum to make it look like an enthusast car.
someone in the market for a brz/frs probably either has a lot of money to spend, or no money to spend. |

And the stock wheels are horrendous. |
Consumer Reports survey found the BRZ/FRS worse than average in reliability.
I bought my 370Z to keep being the chic magnet I was when I had hair and a beat up Honda!!! Bald at 65, hoping a Z would make up for it!!!!! |
Really don't see the FRS as a midlife crisis type car.. but the graph above does show a good amount of older drivers.. I suspect less than the 370z though
