Alright, thats fine. I could ALMOST agree IF the OTD was around $21K. Now THAT would be a great, fun, inexpensive DD. Really, though at close to $29 for a BRZ, now with Nissan rebates, its like a grand less than a base Z. Thats unacceptable because they are very different vehicles in different classes.

After you work them down and pay tax... id assume you would hit around 25 for it... take that 4 and toss on a turbo... done

It may make less power but it has a rough 500 lbs curb weight advantage... it would also be easier to toss around. the engine also offers low center of gravity...

yah, maybe go in during a blizzard in the middle of winter and ask them if they can lower price on inventory? perhaps one might be able to do $25k otd on a frs?

bring your blizzaks, have dealer swap out tires and drive it home.
wash it off, get swifts, some light weds with PSS, alignment. $29k?

2sets of wheels (winter/summer), lowered, wheels. maybe toss in 10mm spacers for the stockers.

kenchan 11-01-2013 03:42 PM

where as my base sport package was like 35otd. wheels and stuff well over 40k

kenchan 11-01-2013 04:14 PM

uuuuuuhh... my post wasn't suppose to be like *nod nod nod nod* everyone agrees on price delta frs vs 370z.. frs not a bad deal. :ugh:

Well i ran at Sebring yesterday (Chin racing), damn Twins everywhere. Im rethinking my position on the vehicle. Dont get me wrong, i still hate it (lol), but with the right tires, this is a very formidable platform. Yes, its underpowered, terribly, inexcusably under powered, but with the right shoes, its really toss able, tracking is very easy and its very forgiving.

It's a pretty damn good chassis. It's hamstrung out of the box with the crap tires, but that's an easy enough fix.

I agree, best of all. its "cheap". Well cheaper than tracking a Z. Youre not gonna put down the great times in it, not like you will with a stock Z either, but for bracket and TA, itll get the job done.

There was at least 10 at Laguna seca yesterday. I thought they are suppose to be rare and hard to get.

300hp+ vs 200 is a huge difference...

It fits right in above the Miata for track use. It's a hardtop Miata with 50 more hp and a halfass back seat. It's not a Z competitor in any way other than arguably price.

Whats rare? The Twins? Theyre like cockroaches, lol. 330hp vs 197, yea, youre not passing many cars, but for experience and eating away the clock, its pretty damn good fun.

I think the twins is a great starting platform as far as learning how to track goes. There were 4 twins at a local small track thatI go to, they are great little things. But once you hit those straights, the car seems to get smaller and smaller.

Small track they are great starting cars, but at a large track, they will have a hard time competing with big boy cars, unless it's boosted.

Hope I see a few twins at BIR next year. I want to see how they actually do.

Like you said, unless they are properly boosted, theyre not gonna be breaking any records, thats for sure. That being said, Im on the bandwagon, they are a great little platform to track, going for those tenths, shaving time off the clock. Never the less, they are still overpriced IMO, I think a real 25K oTD price would be the tits.

They'll get cheaper as time goes on. There were a lot of preorders at MSRP for the car. Now that the "gotta have it" crowd had bought theirs, dealers will be more willing to negotiate. Especially if a more powerful version hits showrooms. They'll fire-sale the 200hp ones.
