Ive had a "is that an Aston Martin" I spun around scanning the road for the suspected car only to realise they were talking about my car haha!

I don't know why people get offended that some people think it's a 350. At least they know it's Z and it is our heritage. Some people couldn't tell the difference between a Celica and F430... :ugh2:

When people ask if it's a 350, I simply say no it's actually the 370. That is usually met with an "Oh so its faster" or "Bigger engine!".

370 doesn't roll off the tongue like 350 does. I vote 380 for next model :D

Except for Porsche being the winningest manufacturer in le-mans history and corvette currently being in the manufacturers points lead this year...

I was going to jump in and started adding my photos and such and decided to delete. Sometimes its just not worth it. I also didnt want people to get me wrong as I really love my Z and its a great car. Good bang for the buck factor.

I had a couple people think my car was a Porsche which is somewhat disappointed as the Z looks so much better!!

When my Z was hit last winter the old guy who hit me thought it was a porche. Took it as a compliment and it improved my mood about .00000000001% considering he just HIT MY Z. She's all fixed now though.

LOL For the first time today I've heard someone tell me, "Hmm its looks likes a Porsche".. and I was like.. "Well its not" hahahaha

Last summer, I got such a Porsche complement from a cute little twenty year old blond thing. Darned shame it all didn't happen 40 years ago!!

Just saying people have mistaken my Z for a Porsche, but no one has ever come up and asked me if my Porsche was a Z.

Oh and on full coverage I pay (mind you I live in Las Vegas where rates are pretty high) for the same exact coverage on both cars although the Z is a 2011 and the Posrche is a 2010 (With way fewer miles), $1,019 every 6 months for the 370Z Sport and I pay $823 every 6 months for the Cayman S.

The rear fender flares out pretty agressively in the z and that reminds me of a 911. Maybe that's why

Yeah, the only way someone would ask if a Porsche is a Z is if they are not at all knowledgable about cars and they know someone who has a Z. Otherwise, anyone who knows about the Z is going to be able to know a Porsche when they see one.

My pennies worth as Ive also owned both, and recently. Had a 2003 996.2 two years ago and earlier this year bought a 2010 370 roadster. Biggest shocks for me was how much cheaper the insurance was for the Porsche, The servicing costs was much cheaper for the Porsche £144.00 from Porsche and £207.00 from Nissan for the Z.
Parts too are a lot cheaper and the dealers at Porsche were so much more enthusiastic about the cars. They also had great days where you can go along and have an hour with a technician and a free breakfast too.
The Porsche was a lot older, granted. I love the 370 it's more "refined" and cheaper to buy and I loved those wide haunches in the mirror of my 911.

Porsches look nothing like Zs. Then again if I had a Porsche I would keep mine. :icon17:

At lunch this guy that was sitting in his car beside mine, saw me walk up to my car, rolled his window down, looked at the car hard, and said "Looks like a Porsche... What is it? Looks good!" I laughed and said it was a Nissan, wished him a good day and left. I was dying of laughter when I got in my car because I knew this thread existed, lol

Nissan made a good choice there, I was looking at the Altima coupe, liked the look and 4 seats, but they only make it as a 4cyl, 2.5L!

Yep, they did away with the 3.5 in the coupe for 13'. its only available in the sedan. IMO, its a good thing, that 3.5 coupe was so confused.

I saw one with no NISSAN back plate / hamburger, it was the Transformers Logo instead.

i bought my car and when my mother first saw it she said... wow it looks just like a porsche! its such a beautiful car. you could put porsche emblems on it and everyone would believe its a porsche hahaha

I drove a Genesis coupe prior to the Z, I would receive comments very similar to what most of you have been discussing in this thread.

The worst was when someone asked me if my car was the new Scion TC. I don't see how someone could confuse the two, the Genesis is substantially larger and wider.

Either way, I haven't really received many compliments on the Z yet, but then again I didn't purchase it for compliments. I just wanted to start a new project.

I had a guy coming up to me at the gym, asking me if it was a GTR :icon17:

When I tell folks I bought a Z they tend to make comments about the "class of car" or get this wide eyed, wow look on their face like I spent 75k on a sports car. LOL

I saw GT-R when I went to buy my Z and I thought it was a Z, only the gold brake calipers gave it away at first glance.

Back when I owned my Porsche Cayenne S I got ribbed by folks who said, "If it has four doors it's not a Porsche." Just goes to show that you will never make everyone happy. In face when I posted on facebook about wanting a Mustang I got dozens of replies each with their own opinion. But no one was offering to buy the car for me. :-)
