Did I Waste My Money?

I just currently got a Base Model 370z this summer for my first car, but the more I look at the prices of other models (such as sport or touring) I feel as if I wasted my money. I bought my base model for only 30k used (only had 4k miles)

TerribleONE 10-24-2013 04:01 PM

Everyone is going to have a different opinion on this as every car is worth an X amount of money to each different person.. however It sounds like you could of done a little better on the car. I paid 25K for my 2010 touring (non sport) with 10k on the clock a little under two years ago.

Aren't people getting base+sport for $31k new? Oh well. Damage is done. If you like the car it doesn't really matter. Go get better brakes and a diff and you've got 90% of the sport package.

MadChemist 10-24-2013 04:02 PM

In reality, does the vehicle make you happy; yes, then you didn't waste your money. I just bought a 2010 touring roadster with the sports package at 25k miles. Makes me happy when I drive it, money well spent.

JARblue 10-24-2013 04:02 PM

You now own a 370Z, so, no, you did not waste your money :driving:

That being said, you probably could have saved a little bit or gotten a little more with some patience.

enkei2k 10-24-2013 04:02 PM

Sounds like you did, but what's done is done. No point in dwelling on it now. Just go and enjoy the car! :driving:

I don't think he even drives it anymore. I think he spends all of his time crying in a corner in his bedroom or bitching about the car on this forum :ugh2:

:icon18: he's the one that stalls his AT car, right? or was it a MT? :icon17:

Wonka2581 10-24-2013 04:07 PM

Dude, you have a 370z Hell no you did not waste your money. I have a 2011 base. You will more then likely change out all the stock parts anyway. Hell thats what I did. Now you can make the car exactly how you want it to be.

Wonka2581 10-24-2013 04:08 PM

And look at the bright side now when you want to add a wing you dont have to plug the stock spoiler holes.....:stirthepot:

:icon17: it's an MT. I know that because he complains the clutch is terrible. Now I'm not going to claim it's anywhere near one of the better clutches I've driven, but that doesn't prevent me from driving it perfectly smooth with minimal effort :driving:

Well maybe that was his car and the reason he's complaining so much about the clutch. I could imagine having some problems if your clutch pedal was replaced with a second brake pedal :icon17:

That made me feel a little bit better just wish I listened to my parents, Im only 16 so I dont know that much about cars and what works. So far I only swapped out the speakers with Alpine ones. Would you suggest investing into appearance or performance first though?

Jasonle 10-24-2013 04:22 PM

Welcome aboard. At 16 owning a 370z. Be glad you have one :)

synolimit 10-24-2013 04:27 PM

A new 14 sports 30k invoice so you be the judge.

OP. Just enjoy the car like many of us do. You were excited I bet beyond reason (I could be wrong) but next time, listen to your parents or at least take their feedback seriously until you get out and live on your own. They are however off limits to the mods you decide to make.

Eighties Meta 10-24-2013 04:29 PM

At 16 please have your parents buy an aftermarket LSD and have it installed pronto. Keep the VDC on until you do so. Thats my advice. If you can afford to do so but if not please ask the parents. The lsd will probably save your life.

First I would not let my 16 year old son have a 370Z he's going to get a truck, an old one, made of iron. My first car was a 1987 4 door chevy cavalier. Damn thing didn't even work. I replaced the starter, oil pump, oil pan, and spark plugs and got it running. With my own money and labor. If you bought it with your own money that's great and applaud your discipline. Even still I would not let my boy buy one. But do your loved ones a favor and don't wrap it around a pole with you in it. Respect your ride and yourself. I've been messing with cars since I was 15. One thing that I have learned is that friends are like cars. They come and go.

(Sorry to rant)

Justice97 10-24-2013 04:38 PM

Sometimes I wish I listened to my parents and got a (performance) sedan instead...but most of the time, I'm like :driving:

This. You bought a 330+hp rwd sports car for your first car. It's a damn quick car, sport package or not. Resist the urge to show off or do something stupid.

fuct 10-24-2013 04:51 PM

since your 16 ill be honest. yes you did waste yours/parents money. not allot of money wasted but you could have saved a couple thousand. next time do some research about what models are worth and what all comes with them.

$30k is allot to spend and not know what you are getting into.

lesson learned :)

falconfixer 10-24-2013 05:22 PM

You got hosed. Regret what you did every time you lay down at night. Dwell on it and let it eat you alive until you trade it in on a used Outback.

Or, go bang a 16 year old high school chick while you still legally can. You'll never eat fresher.

What year ?

No matter what year, your parents should get a beating.

Wait, I don't think it's legal to sell you a car. Is this a real story???

Yeah I actually was really excited when I got the car, I enjoy it a lot too. What are the off limits to mods though?I was only wanting to to change the exhaust and intake for better sound on performance.

kenchan 10-24-2013 05:54 PM

on the cheap you can do the washer mod for like less than $2. :ugh:

Its a 2012 Black Base model, In my profile pic its right behind my motorcycle. Yes it is a real story, I just kept begging with my mother to get me it. She originally wanted me to just inherit my fathers Hummer.

Dude, just stop right here...

ZeeBabar 10-24-2013 06:05 PM

Man, you do not need mods. You have a 370z, the chicks cannot tell whether it is a sports model or not, use the 370z for the babes. At 16, you simply do not have the experience to drive a 370z to where the mods will help. At16, the Civic SI would have been enough.

I bought my 18 year old a Yaris.

It's not my job to blame you or your parents.

You overpaid by 5 thousand dollars. For that price you can get a 2014 brand new with a 5 year powertrain & 3 year bumper to bumper warranty with it. Your car fax will also have 2 owners on it. I'll go back to my first post & Dad?????? didn't stop you??? Ownership under mom????

synolimit 10-24-2013 06:10 PM

You can ride a motorcycle at 16? Not in ohio. Something's fishy here.
