And being in TX where premium is 93, the ECU has probably advanced all the timing it can anyways without needing a tune

Exactly. All octane is is the ability to resist detonation. The ECU will only add as much timing as the factory map will allow. If you've hit that max, you're not going to gain anything without a tune.
