Yeah...after five brutal days of arguing with them this week...I've decided that I will have to take that route!

They looked like droplets of water but they were firm to the touch. I really stressed out about it but while I was trying to take a picture of them to send to my salesman I went to clean some bug splatter off the car with a damp cloth and when I ran the cloth over the bubbles they rubbed off and there was no trace of them ever having been there. The bubbles still appear, only smaller, and only appear in the hot sun. I am meticulous about detailing my 370Z at least once a week so it's not tree sap or something of that nature. My latest theory is that either the clear coat is oozing something because there is no red on the cloth or maybe the "First Place Finish" car wax the dealer had on it when I bought it is bubbling up in the hot sun. Has anyone else with the bubble problem tried wiping them off with a damp cloth?

That's different...I have not experienced the bubbles like you describe...However, that would require that I actually have the car to begin with...I haven't had it for over a month now.

I will keep you posted on this.I previously owned 2 350z s,but they were metallic silver/blue,no probs with them.P J T paul from uk:stirthepot:

WOW...that stinks and I feel your pain! My Dad actually has a red GT-R as well but I haven't had a chance to really look at it closely to see if it may have the same problem too (he's out of state). I will get to see it here in a week or so and I will be looking for defects!!! I'll let you know what I find.

I have a red Z also. The paint sucks, period. purple dots, orange peel, fine scratches, easily chipped, the whole nine. Experienced the same thing with my 350. But I love the car and will drive it till its time to get repainted. I see people paying 5000 plus for rims, stereos, etc. I have no problem repainting when time comes. If you want a sports car with all characteristics of a Z and an A-one paint job, buy a porsche cayman. The Z has a great ride, engine, interior, performance and handling. There is no competition in the 30,000 dollar price range. Buy the car, baby the paint and you'll be happy. You can get most of blems out of the paint if taken to someone who knows what they're doing. Don't let the dealer touch the paint. Worth a couple hundred dollars to me.

Are those "little purple/pearlish spots all over the car" tiny specks about the size of a bic ball point pen tip and are distributed maybe and inch or so apart?

cptspeed 08-29-2009 04:19 PM

mine were yes

Sorry you are still having problems. I hope you get it resolved to your satisfaction!

I also have them exactly as you describe. Have you tried wiping them with a damp cloth followed by a dry cloth? When I do that the spots on my car disappear, which leads me to believe it is either surface pollutants or the wax beading up.

We tried everything to get these out...the dealer even tried claybar and buffing...

So the dealer I have been dealing with has hired a new Service Manager who has taken my case. He reviewed my file and everything that they have attempted to do to the car to fix this problem...he wanted to try to find an alternative to repainting the car since that would not be an ideal situation for any of us...

So, this Service Manager (who is now my hero) thought outside the "bay" and has come up with a way to fix it...he told me how and said a lot of "car" words that I didn't quite understand, but the section he tested looked good. So he thinks he may have my car (nice and shiny no purple dots) back to me by tomorrow!!!! OMG this would be fantastic!

If this truly does work the way I am hoping it will, I will get the details of what he did so I can let everyone know who might have similar issues~!

I am just so glad that I may not have to have my BRAND NEW car repainted!!!!:driving:
