You cant blame the color for those issues. More than likely those issues came from location, climate and age. Although, you do have to maintain red almost as much as you do black. Don't buy red or black if you are not meticulous and familiar with proper auto detailing.

The point everyone is trying to make that has defects in the paint jobs and paint on the new Z is garbage. So your statement has nothing to do with that issue. I for one know all about detailng and meticulous PROPER CAR CARE.I have had many black cars and have NEVER had such problems with paint as the new Z! As for the poster that said "get used to it"! Well his statement pretty much speaks for it self about his character! We are on here to discuss our likes and dislikes and problems we may be having related to the paint on our new Z.Please understand the frustration we who are having these problems feel after buying a new car.It doesn't matter if it cost $20,$30 or $40,000 dollars. It is a new vehicle and Nissan didn't just start making cars yesterday!Price on a NEW car shouldn't matter as far as quality of the paint job! |

:(So here's the latest...
I was supposed to meet with my Sales Manager from my Nissan Dealer along with the GM of that dealer...of course the GM flaked and my Sales Manager can't make any decisions for anything! So, he basically told me that "they have done everything" they can do for me. In other words, which he admitted, Nissan is perfectly willing to expect someone to pay full price for a brand new 370Z with paint defects. CRAP! If I were a new customer off of the street, I'm sure these paint defects would be used as some type of bargaining chip and I'd get a discount of some type off the car...same with hail damage, etc! I basically told him where to go and that this was not an acceptable replacement for the first car, with the same paint defects, that Nissan stated they would not hold a warranty on that paint!!!!!! He left the room for a while and came back to tell me that someone from Nissan Regional would be coming in tomorrow to look at the paint defects on this car. So...we'll see... I pretty much think I'm getting screwed on this deal! Still don't have my car!!! Oh, and I was going to try to get photos of the defects but they left the car so freak'n dirty there was no way to get any good photos...I tried...!!!! |
Maybe the Z isn't for you. Have you looked at the G37's, or other cars of similar fortitude? It sounds like Nissan actually has gone above and beyond trying to help, but unless you can choose one from the factory, there is only so much the dealership can do after trying to correct the problem.
Good luck with the paint issue, I hope it all gets resolved to your satisfaction. |

The sad part is that I really LOVE this car...it's just beautiful and I love the ride...but I do expect quality paint and should settle for no less than that. |
Here's some interesting information on how to deal with paint defects on new cars. If worse comes to worse you can spend a little bit of money and take them to small claims court. From what you're saying it sounds like they would want to settle before court since the paint is defective.

1. Walk up to a 2002 Sentra SE-R Spec-V*. 2. Lightly apply pressure to the paint using your fingernail. 3. Witness the carnage. *This experiment will also work on 02-06 Altimas. Seriously, you couldn't even wet sand a B15 Sentra. If you did, there would be nothing left. |
Believe it or not.........
