The SRM system does a 'preemptive' throttle blip assuming you're going to enter a lower gear when you first start to move toward a lower gear's gate. When you come through the lower gear's gate, you get a second blip that matches the revs. For example, if you come out of 5th gear and allow the shifter to 'settle' in the neutral position which is down and left of 5th gear, the system will blip thinking you're going towards 4, 3, 2, or 1. Once you pass neutral and touch a lower gear gate, you get the precise rev match on the second blip. This approach seems to give the SRM system a head start to ensure your revs are correct once you're in the lower gear. With quick shifts, you'll never notice the double blip, but with slower shifts you will. It's normal for the system to give a blip if you are coasting to a stop and take it out of gear and leave it in neutral. The system is smart enough to know that passing neutral with a rightward movement of the shifter should not evoke a blip. Overall, it's a pretty darn smart system.
