Minor differences that have gone unnoticed?
I am curious to find out some more information on some variance I've seen in some Zs. Perhaps it has something to do with build-date or trim-level, but I've noticed a difference in the tachometers of some cars which have hatches for every 100 RPM, whereas some do not. What's the deal? Yes, I know it's somewhat insignificant, but my curiosity gets the best of me as to why there are two versions. Perhaps there are other minor differences that are not officially mentioned by Nissan between trims and/or build-dates?
Also, there is no documentation that I could find on the difference between the Base and nav-equipped Touring climate-control layout. The Base has the very traditional three-dial layout while the Touring w/ nav's is somewhat integrated into the Bose as one unit. Is it dual-zone climate when you equip nav? Silly questions, yes...but I'm a stickler on details. Last edited by JoeD; 08-12-2009 at 11:47 AM. |

Single zone with Nav. Wow, good catch on that 100 rpm marking. Possibly 2009.5 or is that a 2010 build?

I would say the 100 rpm marks are early, as the fuel/temp gauges in the pic are as well. I though those gause were pre-production. Were the 100 rpm marks pre-productionas well?

As mcphelps mentioned, picture 1 is PRE-production model. It's probably from demo cars that were given to Edmunds, Motortrends and many magazine journalists.
Picture 2 is production model dash layout. As you can see, the fuel and water temp has a black strip to increase visibility. I took picture no. 2 from my own car. I believe 370Z is equipped with "Automatic Temperature Control (ATC)". I do not recall reading anything about "dual climate zone".
