Z versus EVO thread!

I'm actually deciding between the 370Z, Evo X, and G8 GXP. This thread is both amusing and informative for me.

G8 GXP? you ARE aware that Pontiac will no longer exist after this year right? Besides, those things are fat pigs, just like the GTO's, theres no way a 400hp car should run mid 13's, stick w/ the EVO or Z, theyll hold theyre value.

Yes, I'm aware. GM will still repair it and honor the warranty on it. So that's not an issue. And last I checked that fat pig runs a 13.0 and 4.6 0-60. Not too shabby imo.

The Z is still at the top of the list though.

MT says 13.4 and 4.9, its my bible and they use professional drivers, not magazine editors to do said testing. So the Z is cheaper, faster, sexier, I think I just helped you make an elimination.

Oh, BTW, before I go any further...

Anyone that knows me KNOWS I'm a huge Z fan... ****, I'm bypassing dumping ignorant amounts of money into my Evo so I can buy a 370Z and have both. I'm also a prior 350Z owner ('03 LMS - the best color ever for Zs). So don't think I have no clue what I'm talking about and take the bashing with a grain of salt... it's all in good fun.

Here's a great example of a Z owner:

Quote:
Hey there. My friend has a G35 and he is debadging his car.

I already have my rear end badges off because I have the ings spoiler.

But I wanted to put his infiniti badge in place of my nissan badge on my front grill.

The only problem is, if you look at the front bumper of a Z, there is an indent around the area of the nissan badge.

Is it still possible to take it off and put the infiniti one in its place? Anybody ever done it before?

Thanks!
Tony (did it for teh lulz)

And as far as mod responsiveness on the cheap, an SRT4 beats both the Z and EVO, while not necessarily reliable, Ive seen 11 sec SRTs for less than 8k.

LOL. You're wrong.

Evos can run 11's with simple bolt-ons. I spent $1k and ran a 12.5@110 back when I was a shitty driver with a shitty tune.

LMAO@needing $8k for 11's.

I also call shenanigans. I've run neck and neck with a TT built motor Z on the highway in my daily driven IX MR (400whp). If I had 100whp more I would have run away from him. The other driver was a friend of mine, who can also drive.

I would imagine what you saw was good driver in the Z vs bad driver in the Evo.

the IX MR with the JDM map has been recorded running a 12.6 bone stock with the launch control (keep in mind this is not USDM and Japan has higher octane gas). Obviously this isn't what we are used to seeing here, but the Evo's here run 11s all day long with basic bolt ons. Hell, they run 10s with minimal work, stock block.

show me that 12.9, i call BS. And yes, GM will honor the warranty, however, when the 400Z comes out and you waana trade, prepare for them scoffing and offering you free oil changes for a year in trade. I dont know what was done to the Z, but regardless, you can have all the HP in the world, coupled with a shytty driver, it dont mean squat. And you said 12's for 1k, 11's are a different story altogether.

Why would the fact that that division of the company is gone hurt the resale value? It would still be supported by GM by the next owner.

And I edited my post to 13 flat in the 1/4 since that's what most spec reports say. I only saw 12.9 on a couple.

MotorTrend says 13.0 in the 1/4 and 4.5 0-60.

Maybe you were thinking of the G8 GT?

How would a division going under hurt its resale? are you serious? How bout the recent bankruptcy of GM as a whole? And my mistake on the numbers, mind you, there have been 13 flat claims by 370 owners, and with good slicks, 12's for sure.

I can see it spooking some buyers but I really don't see it being that much of a problem. I don't know, I just like GM products. I've always had good luck with them. I used to be a DSM guy too...not so much in the luck dept. there.

I've seen plenty of G8 owners claim 12.5 factory freaks too. Like you said, MotorTrend is the bible and those are the numbers I'm going by for all three of these cars. Right now the G8 wins in everything (even price thanks to the summer close out) except looks. That's where the 370 wins by far.
