When you DD your Z what kind of road makes you smile the most?
For me I love any ramp/entrance onto interstate. I don't track my car so that is where I can let it all out, feel the power and say in my mind "that felt awesome!". What about rest of you?:tiphat:
It is quite boring these couple days at work:(...very silent market for me |
Passing dumba** drivers. :)
|
Last night it was a quiet straight stretch after a stop sign...VDC off and left the asphalt a present of rubber.
I'm lucky that my ride to and from work has a few curves. They are low speed but it is nice to feel the way the car takes them. |

Simple. Easy. |
The lowlands in central Minnesota. Very scenic, gently rolling hills, lots of S-curves, light traffic and fun to visit.
I run into Bimmer drivers whom like to take their cars for cruises too. A bit of a drive from Fargo, but I gotta go every weekend! |

I love any road that I don't bottom out on....
But when I go visit my fiance, there is this stretch of road that is wicked: http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1379699301 |
A Tuesday morning in the summer on US 129 from just east of Maryville, TN to Deals Gap, NC. The Cherohala Skyway, also midweek morning, (mostly) in North Carolina. IN 135 between 46 and 58 is pretty good. The Ohio River Road from I 65 to Cannelton, IN. Buzzard Roost Road in Indiana. Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia. The Lighthouse Trail in Nova Scotia. The middle section of 192 (past Bee Rock) in the Daniel Boone National Forest in Kentucky is good, but the turn with the cutoff to Corbin can be quite dangerous - something slick on the road just after the turnoff, there's this poorly situated tree...
I want to drive: The Beartooth Parkway in Montana/Wyoming. The Chief Joseph in Wyoming. There's also 14(?) over the Bighorn range in Wyoming. In fact most of the really tasty places on a bike are fun in the Z. Interstate entrance/exit ramps at or about double the posted are also pretty good, though they tend to be short and not nearly as interesting as the ones mentioned above.. |

A winding road, sunny, about 62 degrees before sundown. No traffic or other like minded souls, who can enjoy the moment as much as I.
These are good times with plenty of smiles. :yum: |
Hey OP, do a search on fuel starvation before you get too crazy on the on/off ramps. It's never happened to me but its happened to quite a few people on here.

This seems to be a good ride. Luckily I was able to find this post which I read couple days ago again. US41(47°25'35" N 88°3'48" W), http://s22.postimg.org/vipc7np1d/123.jpghttp://s21.postimg.org/7fmx25ek7/123.jpg

I was just out yesterday afternoon and had some fun. I live in Lancaster PA, and the northeastern part of the county has some fun back roads, provided you're not stuck behind Amish people, old people, trucks, or tourists (terrorists, as I've come to call them). And that is a BIG "if."
70 degrees out, windows down, and no traffic. Lots of fun 90 degree turns, couple tight S turns on the route I took. Hit the gas coming out of a turn and get a little squirm from the back end. It's lovely. Most of my commutes are highway tourist hell though. Ugh. "Gas, brake, honk." -Homer Simpson |
I live pretty close to downtown so often my commute to work in the morning and afternoon when I take the Z is pretty tame, its only 15 minutes and its more like a car show than having a spirited drive.
Sometimes I get the highway though, I like it for the smooth open road, I can really push her at times or just enjoy the smooth patch of road unlike the horrible Montreal city streets Twisties are my favourite though, but I have to get 35 mins out of the city. Thats when you get to see the magic the Z has, not to mention when you take some turns too quickly or sharply, you have the potential to poop yourself, exciting :) lol |

The road to the ISF

I daily drive my supercharged 2010 and I love feeling the boost kick in
|
I smile when I'm driving to the I-4 entrance ramp with a Miata tailgating my Z, take the turn to the ramp at 60 looking in the rear view mirror seeing the Miata drift to the top of the turn and have to slam the brakes. No more pesky Miata tailgater.
|
The I-264 Eastbound on-ramp from Independence Blvd. It banks just right. It goes sharply into a right curve and ascends and dips just a touch rolling into a left curve and then back right just as it merges with the expressway.
The downside is the person doing 25mph in front of you. I don't go that way unless I'm the first person at the light. |
I don't daily drive my girl Vanity, but here in Houston Allen Parkway has the best twisty's for sunday morning fun!:happydance:
|
As previously mentioned, US 129 - 318 turns in 11 miles - South edge of the Smoky Mountain National Park. This one is my favorite in the eastern half of the US. Makes for a great 3 day weekend from Indy. Worth a visit, no matter where you're from.:
http://www.the370z.com/members/bumme...hallenging.png I've ridden and driven it probably two dozen times. Midweek is the best. Weekends tend to be a bit crowded. It doesn't have to be as bad as the video makes it seem. But it can be if you get stupid. There are a couple of web sites to buy your pictures after you go, if you run it when they're out taking pics. The semis aren't supposed to be there, but once they get past a certain point there's no way to turn back. |
My driveway makes me smile the most b/c the people here in Atlanta can get in a wreck standing still.:shakes head:

Any road where there's nobody else around. I was out on some country roads yesterday in an area where you can see for 2 miles in any direction. Needless to say I put the hammer down and enjoyed the car, letting it do what it was built to do. Never went over 100 but I was right there on narrow bumpy unmaintained Cali roads. Pretty fun except I was in a pissy mood because of some stuff at work.
Too bad it was all grid. No twisties but I wasn't on a joyride. I had to take some radio equipment to one of my field crews and I wanted to get there in a hurry. I could've taken a pool car (Prius) but you can't drive the company cars over 65 'cause they have GPS onboard. Sucks. |

The ones that doesn't have crazy drivers who provoke, tailgate, and cut two lanes over to side swipe me. Yes, it happened tonight. My newly painted fender and wheel lip are scraped. He tailgated and followed me to the stop light after exiting the freeway to accuse me of trying to hit him and trying to dial the cops by waiving my phone. I told him I was simply trying to get away from him, and that I did try to call the cops on him.
Afterward the light changed, and we drove normally to the next intersection. He turned left, and I turned right. I honestly didn't want to confront him and escalate the situation any further. Plus, I had a hard time identifying the car and license plate. It was some old wagon like it was an 80's VW. I don't know. He was provoking me, and I got scared and wanted to get away. At the same time I couldn't call 911 on my phone. It kept saying the line was busy. I couldn't get a hold of 911 once I got home, and my neighbor (former officer) couldn't believe it. |

I always travel armed. The 2nd amendment makes one feel better when the wolves come out. I keep a nine mil behind my passenger seat just for that kind of scenario. (Its a cute lil p938) Call the police AFTER you have defended yourself I say! (to each his own of course)
my DD is an awesome run down 285 into Denver, unfortunately Colorado is big into traffic "revenues" so I have to soak it up at very mellow speeds. (or find a good rabbit!) |
The 15 miles of back country road that I take to and from work. :D Early Saturday and Sunday mornings are great. :D
|
My daily 45 mile commute is full of win...little traffic and lots of twisties :)

Any road without cops

also, the little exits on the freeway that dont actually make you get off, the ones that put you back on the fwy 15 cars ahead haha. Usually a bit curvy. 405 south cherry north exit is the best. Up an incline and right back down with a right turn into it. Closes thing to canyon roads while works busy |
Yeah....I'm all over Denver driving. When I get behind the wheel of my Z...really any road can be fun. I like longs curves, switch backs and bends in the mountains, but i do like a challenge in the city with traffic. Best of both worlds I guess. Oh did I mention that "Friday open lap days" are becoming part of my "Work" from 6am-12:30 PM. So every other Friday morning drive to Byers, Co is quite a good one watching the sun come up and getting track time!!
