Exclamation Funny thing happened to my z yesterday!

The z had been a little off on the timing (im thinking its the ECU trying to adjust for the Takedas...

I was getting spark knocking and a really sluggish response...

I got in, started it, backed out of the parking lot and proceeded to drive...

The z was in limp mode BIG TIME! for no apparent reason that I could think of...

No matter what I did, I could not get the RPM's above 2500...

I shut the car off, waited a minute, then started it again, nope...same thing...

so I remembered some others here having simular issues, and decided to try and make it home in limp mode

I get to a stop light, usually a super long light at that, and decided to shut er down once more...this time it was atleast 4 mins...

Started the z back up and walla!

z feels and responds like a bat out of hell now

So im thinking that the ECU finally learned the Takedas...

Very strange. That never happened to me after the install of the Stillen intake.

Part throttle adaptation (long term fuel trims) usually set between 25-50 miles. Sounds lile you have some other issues. I would disconnect the battery for a few minutes for a complete purge and re-set.

i had the battery disconnected for over thirty minutes when i installed the takedas...the z is running better now than it did when i picked it up from the dealer..

i forgot to mention also that the shifting of gears has gotten much much smoother as well....

After I installed the G3 intake on my Z - it beeped at me a LOT. I also had the battery disconnected for a while.

But, other than that, it's been fine.

I'm thinking I should disconnect the battery before I take off on my trip to Michigan - give the ECU some "quality time" to start over with adjusting, since the first thing I did after putting on the G3 intake, was floor it, and drive it VERY aggressively. If that's the baseline, well, my MPG will probably be pretty low!

I should have said that my ECU went through it's "re-learn" after my intake install. It wasn't driving to its full potential, but it wasn't in "limp-mode" either. After a few days of driving it was back to usual. Not sure why the original poster had such a problem

when you install a new mod, id disconnect the battery, hold the brake in to purge, then leave it like that overnight, failproof ecu reset. If something like that happened to me, id shyt a brick.

That kind of behavior sounds like you forgot to plug the mass air sensor back in on one of the intakes.
