Solely E85, what'd that do for you with no turbo to increase boost? I can't see a few degrees of timing being worth the extra effort. Have you pulled the fuel pump lately?

OP, you are going to have a hard time getting an apples to apples comparison from this crowd. You should narrow it down very specifically.

For example:
CRITERIA:
Engine =V6, Inline 6 or Flat 6
Engine Technology = Internal Combustion Engine
Fuel = High Quality North American Gasoline
Forced Induction = No
Drive Train = RWD
Engine Location = Front
Transmission = Manual, Automatic, or Manumatic
Trim = Base, Sport, or Specialty Model
Year in Production = First, Second, or Third Year
Price Range = $25K - $55K
Weight of Car = <3500 lbs, >3500 lbs

These are all key factors when comparing cars and performance / value. I really like the fact that it took several years for any cars in the $30K range to catch up to the performance value that the Z brought to the table back in late 2008.

Yep. Agreed on your extra categories.

  • must have stock/base manufacturer equipment
  • naturally aspirated (- i.e. no turbos)
  • same year, like 2011 vs 2011 for instance

Maybe I'm leaving out some things (feel free to add more exclusions) but here's a list based on things I've seen posted:
  • BMW M series (not SUV's obviously)
  • Mustang GT and above (that was for my neighbor who has a Cobra)
  • Porsche 911
  • can't think of any non-turbo Audi's but I'm sure there are some

If we account for similarity in price (let's put the Z at 40K), I would think it would be only the Mustang GT that would take us, right? Again, I'm only talking about a 1/4 mi sprint.

I know I'm missing some cars and I'm not trying to put myself out there as a car expert...not at all. I just drive and come across certain cars and wonder "I bet I could take him." Thx.

Note: And yes, please feel free to switch in Nismo Z to represent the Z if you'd like...just to make things interesting.
All except 911 don't matter to me, I wouldn't pay to ride in any of them so it doesn't matter if they're faster.

I'm more interested in what the next Z will offer out of the box...

Our car model is about ready to retire. 3 years or so and counting... I love it, but I'm already looking towards the next iteration.
Redglare and MagmaRed370z like this.

Curious what everybody thought of that comment by him.
I think a 2013 Camaro SS with the 1LE package would beat it up. R&T pulled 1.09 g's on a skid pad with one. It's heavier with 90+ more hp.

These threads/comparo's are useless. Drive what you like and enjoy the ride. Why just a 1/4mi. How about 1 mile etc. Speed is much more than some short distance to begin with. The Z is not a 1/4 machine to begin with and nor are most cars. Its an arbitrary measure with no basis in reality.

Its amazing how quickly this car gets to 190kph+ on the Autobahn(120mph). Thats way more fun If a guy in his 360 Ferrari or 911 Carrera S is faster whatever. He paid way more to do that marginally faster. Its amazing what this car can do at that price point without the amazingly COSTLY maintenance some other marque's need.!!

did you just get bigger injectors? curious what you did and what you dynod at because running e85 should just allow you to advance timing.
