Got caught in a stressful purchase bind.

Hey guys, I've been reading these forums forever now, so much information you guys rock!

I recently sold my 07 z33 6spd and was about to purchase a 370z, found a really low mileage (5k miles 2010 base sport for a reasonable price), the time to pull the trigger is now, but I am hesitating....

Please hear me out before I get a brick to the head. All the recent threads for the next gen Z are popping up, and look I know it's all speculation at this point, but one thing nissan did with all Z car generations (except one anomaly z32tt) was increase performance/ergonomic/design/aesthetics.

So now I am in a dilemma, drop close to 30k for an outgoing gen z34?, sit and wait who knows how long, I am guessing at least another year before they start hitting dealer lots.

I currently have a DD, so the Z was going to be purely a weekend warrior.

and just to clarify, no I am not interested in the current gen or future gen mustang g.:tiphat:

I think the general consensus is that they will be breaking the trend. There are a lot of threads on what might be coming.

If you always wait for the next best thing, you will always be waiting.

That is true but his concern is valid and a car is a major purchase. Also, we will know a lot more in 6 months. What is the harm in waiting?

I agree, and a new Z will be much more $$ than you are spending on the used 2010 Z. Live it up now.

True a car is a major purchase, but you have to factor in enjoyment versus wait.
If he can wait for an officially announcement, probably not until 2014, and then choose between the going out 370z or get the new Z then that is fine. Though the point is, is it worth waiting instead of just purchasing and having fun now. And if something new comes out, he can always buy mods or even do a trade in for the newer Z as he is buying a used one. Diminishing value will have already hit picking up used so the value of the car will hold even with the announcement of a new Z.

As nice as it is to wait on the next model my concerns is with Nissan making a hole new engine. That's when recalls happen. Never a good idea to buy the first year model. Let the kinks get worked out.

I'd wait since you said it'll be a weekend car. Not like your DD is dying and you need a new car ASAP.

If I like the next gen, I'll take that and pay a bit more for it. If not, then I'll find an older model and settle. That's what I did when I picked up my 2012 Z. Saw the 2013 'refresh', threw up in my mouth a little, and went to the dealership to pick up a 2012 model instead.

if you are not in luv with the Z34, i would just wait and see. you can always buy a used Z34 if you decide you want one later.

woah quite the wise words :bowrofl::ohsnap1:

Lol thanks guys, all input processed and considered, might wait a bit longer and just throw the Z money in a nice semi-aggressive return investment.

I guess for another 6 month I will have to suffer a 4cyl auto dd, then when solid info on next gen comes along I will jump on a low mileage (sub 10k) Z.

It's going to be a painful time not having a Z under me. :(, every time I see a 350 or 370 on the road my clutch foot hits the footrest in the scion.

Well if you like, wait for the new model. If it doesn't appeal to you, you can get great deals on the previous model. At least you will save up more till then.

Life is a gamble that’s what I’ve been told.

JungleZ 09-05-2013 05:57 PM

If you get the current gen z get an automatic.

I say brick to the head!

Rumors are just that. Wait for the unknown or take the current known. I doubt I'll trade in my Z34. Serously doubt it. Gen 7 Corvette sounds sweet too. By spending $10-20K more for a car may not result in that much more fun.

Good luck.
