Why should he get an automatic? I'm not asking because I think that's a bad idea. Just wondering what the logic is. Just interested to know.

You should never buy the first of anything that is:

A. Software (Windows Vista)
B. Mechanical (Steering wheel lock)
C. Computer or tech related (first gen Android phones - see software)
D. Young woman (fun at first but get old real quick)

If you are that guy then you are the one that everyone is sitting on the boat watching you sink because they want to see what happens before they jump in.

As nice as it is to wait on the next model my concerns is with Nissan making a hole new engine. That's when recalls happen. Never a good idea to buy the first year model. Let the kinks get worked out.

:iagree:

They make changes to correct things as the line ages that they may not
announce. Looks to me like a lot of the chronic issues are always 09's & 10's.

Just concentrate on the car you want to buy now, $30K for a 2010 Base?

I would say "D." is just fine. Just move on when appropriate.

it's actually 25,750 ~ after tax ~27k, for a 2010 base sport 6mt.

and I could never get an automatic Z, nothing is wrong with it but for a weekend warrior over 50% of the fun comes from rowing your own gears!:yum:

I have a 10 Base Sport 6mt, and after 2+ year owning it, it still puts a smile on my face everyday! I would said wait and see whats next, if you don't like whats next you can always find a great deal on out going model, you could even get a new one for the slightly more, since Nissan just did that price cut on the latest year model with the Japanese Yen been strong.

Hey guys, I've been reading these forums forever now, so much information you guys rock!

I recently sold my 07 z33 6spd and was about to purchase a 370z, found a really low mileage (5k miles 2010 base sport for a reasonable price), the time to pull the trigger is now, but I am hesitating....

Please hear me out before I get a brick to the head. All the recent threads for the next gen Z are popping up, and look I know it's all speculation at this point, but one thing nissan did with all Z car generations (except one anomaly z32tt) was increase performance/ergonomic/design/aesthetics.

So now I am in a dilemma, drop close to 30k for an outgoing gen z34?, sit and wait who knows how long, I am guessing at least another year before they start hitting dealer lots.

I currently have a DD, so the Z was going to be purely a weekend warrior.

and just to clarify, no I am not interested in the current gen or future gen mustang g.:tiphat:

IMHO, you're over thinking this. Do you think there were a lot of 350 owners or potential owners who hesitated on speculation that there'd be a new gen coming in "a few years"?

Just doooooo it!

You do realize you can buy a 2014 z base 6mt for 27k plus tax right??? No way in hell I'd buy a 10 at that price.

After talking with a guy that met the z designer and chief engineer who signed his engine covers, the new z will have a turbo 4 and a v6. Not sure if it's a new motor on the 6. You can bet a new body and the infiniti new line, the Q's, will be what the z will use as always since its infinities body nissan can't afford. Should be couple hundred pounds lighter. The IPL Q60 will have a TT v6 so be prepared for the nismo in 15-16 to get the same

Go for the 370. I wouldn't buy a first year model. Heard of the FRS? Known issues include problems with the fuel injection, tail lights condensing water, camshaft sensor failing, and coolant being used up rapidly. Plus waiting is no fun. You could be driving spiritedly around corner right now.

^^^this.

Just wait....at this point it is all speculation about the next Z. For all we know it might end up being all our hopes and dreams.

There will be plenty of used Z34 in the upcoming months to choose from.
