Sigh...Freakin Girlfriend.

So coming home from the mall....im in sixth and cars are coming to a full stop ahead of us, i clutch in drop to N while my foot is still on clutch this is where it gets retarded, so my girl flips out saying "OMG STOP" and at this point im letting off the clutch because the traffic isnt moving and she pulls my shift hand and make me shift into fourth as im letting off the clutch...sigh, car stalls, in fourth gear....heard a little gear grinding just a little but yea any repercussions stalling in fourth?

shadoquad 08-02-2013 07:18 PM

I doubt it's much worse than stalling in first...

Train that girlfriend better, though lol

chrischhorn 08-02-2013 07:21 PM

I'd personally be more mad about if she farted in my seat then that........

Lmao!!

SS_Firehawk 08-02-2013 08:12 PM

cuff your GF's hands to her ankles until she learns not to touch a mans shifting hand. There is no hand holding in a manual. And the passenger never touches the shifter, just as they would never touch the wheel while the car is in motion.

Sell the GF for mods.

/thread.

SmoothZ 08-02-2013 09:37 PM

Pics of GF first, then we'll judge if you need to replace her with mods.

I know you guys may just be kidding (or not) or think it is funny but this is not cool. Lets not go sideways on this.

OP. Thanks for sharing. Women just over react sometimes. Better a stall than hitting something or someone.

You're right... sorry.

10MPlayer 08-02-2013 10:05 PM

Take some advice from an old guy that's been married to a nervous gal for 35 years; there's a way to drive when you're alone and there's a way to drive with a passenger. Hopefully you're smart enough to know the difference.

And yeah, totally uncool to grab the shifter or the wheel but you must have scared the he ll out of her to make her do that.

critical 08-02-2013 11:04 PM

Dump her lol. The problem may stem from you though

venus 08-03-2013 12:46 PM

Get TF Out!

Was driving my 240Z home from work one day & the engine started to smoke while in center lane of grid lock. Gees, I was expecting flames to erupt any second while I struggled to get over & off the road. Much grinding occurred but I made it. Yep clutch fluid had sprayed over the engine & burned. I’ve seen “bits” in my transmission fluid in the RX-7 before stuck to the magnetic plug but what can you do. Can’t help to wonder exactly where they came from. Shift on.
But tell the GF to get TF out of your car.

luigi90210 08-03-2013 02:30 PM

You need to train her to grab the right stick next time.

Minsu 08-03-2013 04:10 PM

Lol I wouldn't want any girl to reach for my crock if she's flipping out. What is she grabs too low to hard. Let's avoid that at ask cost fellas

I've conjured with other sports car drivers and we have determined that this is a mild violation of guy code. No hand holding at all in the car, especially if it's a manual. No exceptions, my wife holds my pocket but that's it. I am fully able to shift and maneuver the car as need fit. Your girl's hands should be cuffed to the strut bar lol! All in all I wouldn't worry about it, I've gotten a lot of 5th gear crunch in the winter time and no problems yet at 56k.

madwi 08-03-2013 11:25 PM

Hey man, a very small talk about how to react is OK. I had a winter beater that was a '79 dodge aspen. The passenger door would not latch and when I whipped the back end out on snowy roads the door would open and then snap itself shut. The first time I took my grandma home (about 4 city blocks) she was calling me all kinds of names I cant repeat here lol... oh and i'm sure your care is OK lol

SPOHN 08-04-2013 08:36 AM

I'd leave her

Mt Tam I am 08-04-2013 10:32 AM

this is where it gets retarded

this is where it gets retarded: From 6th to N to a stop. :iagree:

In neutral do not coast with the clutch in. While approaching stopped traffic use the gears to assist in (sudden) braking. The GF was wrong to put you in a gear but you should have been in gear already. From 6th to N to a stop.

Vaughanabe13 08-04-2013 10:47 AM

What made her think it was ok to grab part of the car like that? She wouldn't grab the wheel would she? It's basically the same thing because she's panicking and taking control away from the driver. I would be seriously pissed if that happened to me - not because she freaked out but because she shifted for the driver. I'm guessing she doesn't know how to drive manual either because why the f would she shift to 4th? So in that case she's even MORE dumb because she had no idea what her shifting would do to the car. That shows a serious lack of judgement on her part.

roy'sz 08-04-2013 10:50 AM

I think she went full retard lol.
