From the other threads someone suggested to try and prime it 2-3 times then try to start, but not much more than that.

Other than that walk to the gas station and get 5gal of gas, or call a tow truck.

DEpointfive0 08-02-2013 01:10 PM

You need 5-ish gallons of gas and to try starting your car. Best thing would be to have a battery booster or something, because you'll have try start, or try to start it a lot of times

wait a few minutes for it to settle and try starting your car up again

Haboob 08-02-2013 01:11 PM

Oh, and no long fast right-hand corners at 1/2 tank or less.

Zensation 08-02-2013 01:29 PM

Well hello AAA...this freakin sucks who makes a car like that?!... Geez

Nissan makes a car just like that ;)

ChrisSlicks 08-02-2013 01:50 PM

You should only need to add 1 gallon, that will be enough to prime the pump side and get the siphon going to pull fuel from the other side.

kenchan 08-02-2013 01:54 PM

Sucks. Before risking tow damage to the car ask the tow guy for gas.

roy'sz 08-02-2013 01:55 PM

1800nissan1....they helped me with that at 01:30 in the morning. Didnt cost me anything but time.

Zensation 08-02-2013 04:12 PM

Well AAA Brought out some premium gas for me. Sux cuz i didnt realize id let my membership run out. Oh well took an hour but its all good...a white 370 with a carbon hood drove by and revved his engine at me. Didnt stop tho, i woulda stopped if i saw another 370 down and out.

That's becaue you're in SC. If you were in Cali, you'd get our help. I'd stop for a Z brother who needs help.

You're joking right? I have money but I sure as **** don't keep my tank filled to the max 24/7. I think Mike said once he got fuel starve with 15 out of 16 dots on the gauge! Its not a money issue, its a nissan issue.

But hey, they ****** us all by dropping the 14's $3600 so our cars are worth dog **** now, paint sucks *** and chips if you sneeze on it, so whats one more thing like a sports car that can't take corners or it shuts off

Seems like Nissan has issue with this on quest also. But at least there was a tsb on it. They get new gas tanks and pumps, while their heritage cars gets no luv!

Might only be time before they realize they need to act on it. Steering lock took like 4 years before making it an official recall.

Paint is thin because sports car. We don't need the extra weight of the extra coats.

coolvans1988 08-12-2013 11:53 AM

Is the fuel starve a common thing? I've had my Z close to a year and been down to 1-3 dots everytime i need to fill up. I take fast right turns and all. No problems with mine (im at 7.5K miles). **knock on wood**

Mostly hear about it from the track guys on here. Never had it happen myself

cossie1600 08-12-2013 12:48 PM

Nope, all the guys who drive their car hard never experience it because they are such great driver that they can beat physics. It's almost like seeing vin diesel drive

roy'sz 08-12-2013 01:11 PM

Go into a corner doin 90 for 4-6 seconds...on 1/4 tank....thats pullin fuel to one side

cossie1600 08-12-2013 02:03 PM

You can do it at 30 mph

They also raised the price every year since it was introduced. It's now priced the same as it was when I bought my car 4 years ago. It means one thing. There's a new model in the works and they need to move more Z's.

The fuel starve issue does worry me. The problem is, even if Nissan issues a recall or fix, it's not going to be an easy one. It's the design of the tank and every solution thus far isn't 100% and/or extreme in scope.

It's because they don't granny shift and they double clutch like they should.

I think its semi easy, a vendor here makes a fix. Nissan will just have to make enough so you don't have to pay the crazy $1000 for his solution.

/Angelo350Z/ 08-12-2013 08:04 PM

This is scary. I've let my fuel level down to less than 20 miles DTE several times (I only live 8 miles away from work and the gas station is in between). Never again :shakes head:.

Zensation 08-12-2013 10:08 PM

Well Im never letting it get down below half a tank anymore...

Its not a money issue and if you had half a brain yould know that it doesnt save any money by waiting till < 1/4 tank to fill up vs filling up at 1/2 a tank. the only thing that drives the cost higher is gas mileage so how am I cheap again? :shakes head:

...anyways I have had 2 370z's and it never happened on the first one I had so maybe its just hit or miss or happenstance to suck up an air bubble. That being said I wouldnt push it
