ok here it is off my invoice:
tech notes-tech was adised from tech line to perform bulletin on noise from axels. "note" this is a temp fix, if noise comes back on need to conact nissan. Tech removed both rear axels, regreased them, and turned them 180 degrees from their original spot.
DAT: 40073-0L700 Sympt code: ZL DIAG CODE: 46

ok so after this maintence was done I felt a WORLD! of difference. The car is way torqier. Also my VDC doesnt ingage so pointlessly. I used to give the car some gas and the VDC would just kick in at very little torque. Sooo....my guess was the "looseness" in the fangs inside the pumpkin where triping the VDC into thinking slip. bottom line....after having my car for 4 months, I finally took it for its first real drive today and felt what she should have been like the whole time.

Dealer info:
Nissan of Visalia
(559) 734-3333

if this helps then please hit me up for cred points...lol thanks.

Sorry to ressurect such an old thread, but this was my experience with the problem:

This issue is covered in a TSB but Mossy Nissan here in Houston said that the procedure of rotating the axles and greasing the diff/etc is considered an "adjustment" and only covered in the first 12,000 miles of service.

So I had to drop my car off with them for 3 hours and will probably end up having to pay 350+ for them to fix it.

Totally sucks, but I guess in the end it's cheaper than an axle or cv going out. (Shrug)

Removing the drive shafts has nothing to do with the inner workings of the rear differential. The shafts bolt to the flanges on the differential and insert into each rear wheel hub. Removing, greasing, and rotating only involves unbolting the shafts from the rear diff flanges, removing them from their respective hubs, regreasing, and reinstalling 180 rotated. With a lift, this is a 1 hour job.
