We (some of us) get carbon fiber products for either or both of the 2 of the following reasons.

1. Its lighter and gives us weight reduction which will allow us to perform better

and or

2. Its appealing to the eye to many and most just like it for its neat appearance.

For those who want it for reason 2 is just for looks. To some eyes it makes the car look sharper / more agressive just like anything else such as a paint job or a new shift know or sport pedals.

Simple as that.

We make them for those who like them.

I would consider the film as an inexpensive way to cover the very soft and very easily scratched pillars. That single stage paint really scratches easily. I think it will look awesome with PG paint. I'm thinking of doing the fangs as well when I get my Z.

actually it doesn't look too bad :) i think it looks decent.

The pillars are plastic. They almost look like black glass but they are plastic....

Pushing_Tin 08-02-2009 03:26 AM

So is that piece made specifically for the Z, or was it cut to fit?

Unfortunatley I had to take the pics in the dark with a flash but you get the idea :) I asked the installer about doing up kits for a DIY.....

I was just over to show a friend of mine who is a Z nut the car for the first time and he asked if the CF was stock. I had to tell him no and its not CF :)

Where did you purchase?

Shunya 08-02-2009 11:41 AM

I have friends that also does this :)
maybe I'll get some guys to pre-cut some and see if you guys want it.
but gotta check it out with them 1st :P

I am at a loss for words. Its scary that 3M saw enough demand for fake carbon fiber to develop this. I guess this thread is proof that they have a good idea in their hands.

I'd tape my B pillars with that in a heartbeat if it has any longevity and sun resistance. What's the product number, where do you order it, and how much does it cost?

^even if it's not sun proof you can always replace it i guess. should be that much in cost.

Yeah, while I like the SpawnAeroJohn products, justifying $200 for a set of stick on CF B Pillars is pretty tough. I'd have to hand my wife my balls along with a hammer if she found those arriving in the mail.

A look alike CF tape that will cover all the little nicks in my plastic B pillars would be very welcome in my book though.

Shunya 08-02-2009 02:39 PM

then just get overlays then u save your balls too :)

Why is it scary? Both of my pillars have scratches on them and this would be a cheap way to cover them up.

Please elaborate......
