Anybody else OCD over the digital MPG gauge?

I have owned this car for a little over a week and I find myself always looking at the MPG bar (0-60) and I tend to drive slower without noticing it so the bar raises to a higher MPG. Other than that I have been averaging over 22 mpg for my first full tank.

I'm OCD about trying to make the bar disappear as much as possible :driving:

I just keep it at the outside temp display.

Unless I feel like getting trippy and want to stare at a bar go up and down :icon14:

Don't really care about maximizing my MPG usage or even looking at it.

:iagree: Outside temp for me as well. As long as I'm making enough money that I don't have to specifically budget and watch my fuel expenses, I want to just keep life simple, not bother worrying about it, and instead just drive how I want to drive.

Gee...that's one of the few things that I'm not OCD about.
:tiphat:

Outside temp too. On long highway trips I may put the mpg screen on the nav display. Never on the center info piece -- too distracting :)

Urban mpg = ~20-22 mpg, highway = 26-33 mpg. Keep in mind, the G is a heavier car too. Urban is ~50/50 highway/surface streets. No stop/go.

+1. If you're worried about MPG, buy a Prius!

hadokenuh 06-19-2013 03:38 PM

Ha-ha! OCD is right. :icon14: The same sillyness as the fuel guage lights.

outside temp for me too. though it was fun cruising down to CA last summer, tucked in behind an audi, cruised at 95 and watching the meter stay around 30mpg.

kenchan 06-19-2013 03:53 PM

hummm.... someone bought the wrong car?

i only use the ambient temp screen. :p

:inoutroflpuke:

If your ocd about such a small thing you'll drive yourself bananas. :icon17:

Haha don't get me wrong I get on it all the time. I notice its mostly on the highway driving to work (I commute 22 miles to work mostly highway). And I am not an OCD person at all just for some reason the gauge catches my eye. I'm not trying to save MPG by any means (I sold my 2008 honda civic for this car) it just feels like a game.
