Play your cards right and the ladies will be all over you when you tell them that your manual 370Z gets several mpg more on the highway than the automatic version.

Unless you're driving a cheap car. Most automatics rival or exceed mpg's of their modern manual counterparts..

I really don't care which you prefer but don't try to make an argument with flat out lies. I would go through and call out each post but come on guys just because you are on the internet doesn't mean you can just shoot stuff out your butt.

You can't put anything on the internet that isn't true.

Guy goes into a Bar.

He sees this Hot Girl at the Bar.

He walks up and asks her if she wants to go for a ride. He says he knows how to drive a stick...

She says he is in the wrong Bar..

But he says it is a Manual..

She says "His name is Manual" ??

I never drive my car in D. It's not that simple. Learning to shift without over-revving DRM is a task in itself. Everything else is like driving manual while negating the clutch.

You can miss a shift and lose all power in a race. You still have to be in the right gear/rpms and know when to up/downshift etc...

What you're saying is one sided.

It IS that simple. Just because you don't drive in D doesn't mean it's not there and can't be used. Also, "Missing" a shift in your automatic is quite different from "missing" the shift on an MT. The only thing that is similar to a manual from what you're describing above is timing of when you have to flick the paddle while your foot is mashed and to an extent, the powerband. Still MUCH easier than learning how to time your clutch, ACTUAL shift, and gas foot.

I'm not downing the auto, but get real it's in NO comparison as difficult to time/drive as a manual down a track.

I've misshifted in Forza before with the controller paddles (triggers more like it). :shakes head: Caused me to mess up a turn and lose the race.

I turned it off after that. Didn't want to ruin my Ferrari anymore.

Oh, another confession! When I actually do put it in full auto mode, I really wish the gear selector would still tell me what gear I'm in. This lack of knowledge is fine in my other car, but the Z lets me interrupt full auto and command it to shift. It'd help if I knew my bearings first! Either play it safe and shift down once for a really impotent passing moment (hi fifth gear, I don't need you!), or double-tap and go down further than expected for a "I wasn't revving at you, sorry!" moment. Thankfully, the auto wants to basically get to 6th as soon as it possibly can and stay there, so you can usually assume 6th. (This is part of why I rarely use the auto...I would like to hear my pet purr, thank you.)

Back on topic for the off-topic topic: Most things "car related" will impress and attract attention from guys more than women. Just sayin... It's right up there with video game knowledge/skills.

This is like the horseless carriage vs horse riding debate that raged for years online back in the late 1800s. If I remember correctly, the manly mountain men agreed that horseless carriages were for "pampered city gals." The horseless carriage guys said horses would be relegated to glue ingredients, but lamented that they had to struggle so much to change the gears.

By the way, I shoot only crossbows and wear only pleather codpieces.

Real men drive cars with manual transmissions. Real men understand that cars need three pedals, otherwise the vehicle is nothing more than a fancy golf cart. Men understand that driving is a skill, and that the best way to master this skill is to maintain absolute control of all aspects of a car at all times. If you think it’s better to let the car tell you what to do, you may as well turn in your testicles so that they don’t get in the way of your marathon sessions of watching The View.

Men and manual transmissions seem to go hand in hand, and not just because you can’t say “manual” without first saying “man.”
