They changed the gear rations in manual or auto? And is this just for 15s?

In both I believe

No printed times are usually consistent. The manual Z consistently is closer to 13.5

The auto is more consistent at quarters than manual. And I'm pretty sure the Nismo auto can hit 12.7 more than not. when I first read about the upgrades I was guessing on my own it would be about 12.8 seconds. so its only .1 seconds better than I thought for the auto.

if you look at the power to weight ratio of the Z. it makes sense that it would be sub 13 second car if tuned decently.

Well, the claim 12.7 time came from a guy who guesstimates his quarter mile time based off his 1/8th slip. So that is why I was in doubt. I agree, the 370z has always been a low 13 second car(stock). Just not sure what the difference is with the new 3.9 ratio.

Fixed. I'm guessing that guy has a coat hanger scar on his forehead.

It should be pretty dramatic. Some years ago we had a member with an N/A tune where he made 3:9 ratios on his own along with intake, exhaust & a couple more mods. He was pushing 12.4. sec quarters on drag radials.
it was the fastest NA Z on record.

They actually didn't change the final gear ratio on the regular Zs. From what I've read it's only on the Nismo

They're both good cars. Looks are subjective. I think the Boss looks better than the Nismo. The nismo has too much areo stuff going on for my taste. The Boss is probably made much better. Nisssan kind of dropped the ball on the 370z in a lot of ways. Not a big deal on a $20,000 used example, but if I paid $40,000 and had brake failure issues on a race track, I would be pissed.
For $20,000, I would get the 370Z(used). For $4x,000, I would pick option 3 and get a Cayman or E92 M3.

Not sure why we have to continually tell people that a pad change is the only thing you need on Z's since 2013. Before that, pad and fluid. Since it's going to be brough up, spend the $600 and get the oil cooler. Even the Z28 was overheating in 80 degree heat on the latest Road and Track test."This is a hot romance in the making—but then it gets too hot. Although ambient temperature is barely in the 80s, three hard laps are enough to send the Camaro's oil temperature around the dial and beyond the 300-degree mark." Sorry, your complaints are minor and mostly invalid in the price range, even at $75,000. The Boss 302 even overheats. Even fuel starvation plagues plenty of "track ready" cars.

Point is, pick a platform, the grass isn't greener on the other side of the hill. You're going to have to sink money in it to take it to a track.

That statement right there tells me that you are going off assumptions, no fan boyism intended the boss overall I agree is a faster car, but built quality? don't even start with that. not to mention a live rear axle. I personally do agree that with 40 id get other cars but the one thing that's day and night difference is the damn quality that Fix Or Repair Daily's don't have.

DavidZ370 11-05-2014 02:08 PM

and you gotta understand that every car isn't perfect just like the boss and its god horrible transmission failing left and right.

First 2015 to be wrecked? Oops

NoLaKrewe 11-05-2014 07:30 PM

Damn. That was quick

Zerocool 11-05-2014 08:58 PM

the 2015's look ugly as fck in my opinion. I've always liked how the newer gt's look. aggressive looking machine with the cool rear turn signals that always catches my attention.

benefits of that v8 are easy.. the torque is there! can spend less money than what you would on a Z and make it faster. It won't corner and stay flat around bends as well as the Nissan but once you get around that bend and into a straightaway, you'll close the gap.

I like how the newer gt's and boss look besides the 2015's but they look like an ordinary car on the road. The Z is a real head turner and I love that.
