Passing on the highway needs 15 seconds of prep to get up to speed. the 5 mt is much more pleasant to drive and I can have fun in this car . It's geared well and has enough power to offer great performance for it's price/class.
Half these econo boxes on tame roads with automatics will make you fall asleep behind the wheel. But i've driven some of these econoboxes in manual transmission on the mountains of Puerto Rico!!! Man it's like driving a serious sports car. So much more fun and exciting. I've driven the Toyota Vitz in PR, Mitsubishi lancer, Suzuki Fuego, mini cooper old mazda rx7 from 80's honda civic crx and Corolla. All these cars fairly low hp with manual transmissions felt like beasts on those mountains.
I think it's what those cars are made for. The terrain in Asia is extremely similar to PR. I've driven the auto versions of some of those cars in PR mountains

i like accord sedan cause it has modern flat and sleek design.

you seem to know a lot about them....

i absolutely hate slow AT cars. those sportshift modes are a joke with its slush torque converters.
You might have a point there with age demographics. And on the sportsh!t modes in small hp cars.

some of the cars you mentions were meant to be manual. Their auto counterparts were golf carts in comparison. especially cars like the mini cooper, crx, corolla.

DCT needs to invade compacts if they want sport shift autos. It's the only way. Theres more success in slushxes in much more powerful cars. The GTi. I think its the high end of low hp. It proves its worth in DSG/DCT over a slush.
