Has anyone dealt with RavSpec???

Hey,
Has anyone here ever done business with RavSpec? I ask because I have contacted them about wheels a few times and have gotten different pricing and information each time.

mattjk 05-01-2013 02:14 PM

I once ordered from them with good results a long time ago, so I tried to order a new set of Works. They replied once and that was it. They ignored my next two emails...

I'll just order from someplace else.

NickD 05-01-2013 02:18 PM

I asked for a price on something they told me $4200 but they have it listed online for $3,800. Same exact wheel.
I also asked about a different wheel that they told me was new on clearance but their site says it's slightly used.

All I can say is SHADY

enkei2k 05-01-2013 02:58 PM

I've dealt with them in the past a few years back. Mark is a legit guy. I think I even met him (or maybe it was one of his colleagues) at NYIAS and we chatted a bit about rims and such.

You're somewhat local to them, take a drive out to their shop and look around.

new clearance and slightly used could mean open box/display unit. Who knows without looking at pics.

That's fair enough but doesnt explain why I got a price of 44200 for new wheels when they are listed at $3800 from them on another site.

shaun66 05-01-2013 03:17 PM

Prices fluctuate and they haven't updated their website maybe??

Apoc370z 05-01-2013 03:27 PM

Custom color, wheel offset will affect the price a little, or they might be doing a sale/promotion on the other site?

Best way to get an answer is to call them directly. But hopefully they are legit, i ordered a set of gs4 from them

I asked for a quote via PM and it came out higher than their eBay store price. That's about all the experience I have had with them.

That is exactly what happened today which is why I'm asking.

PMd for a quote today was $4200 (picked up). Ebay is $3,780 +150 shipping (still cheaper with shipping!

Same exact wheels, colors, sizes etc...

KaienZ34 05-01-2013 04:00 PM

Got my GS4's from Mark at RavSpec with no problems.

raymondo510 05-01-2013 04:01 PM

I ordered my Works from Vivid, and tho I haven't received them yet, there customer service has been really good and Sean even got me the color I wanted at no extra charge.

brian spilner 05-01-2013 04:41 PM

you guys are acting so ridiculous. Simply say "hey you quoted me 4400 on this set, but on eBay its 37xx + shipping... can you just match that price since it's the same set?" they've been around for years and are very reputable. lol

roclive75 05-01-2013 05:07 PM

What a bunch of girls...are you listening to yourselves...lmfao!!! Just relax if its not the price you want to pay then just simply move on order from somewhere else

roclive75 05-01-2013 05:08 PM

:ughdance:Its really not that big of a deal

Definitely no big deal for someone that has difficulty reading and understanding.

We have Fast & the Furious and a 22 post member saying normal posters are overreacting? Not sure where you both came from or what you drove before, but on this forum, we support the vendors AND the community. If something doesn't seem right, ask about other member's experiences. I don't see how this is overreacting.

They do seem reputable and professional to me based on their forum posts and how they advertise their products.

I think revspec is the only vendor that actually announce the price of the wheels openly. And the quotes i got for them are very consistent.

Having that said, i do understand how the OP says when he got different pricing for the quotes he submitted.

But like i said, i felt confident enough to ordr from them.

Pintsize725 05-01-2013 05:25 PM

I've asked another vendor before to price match their personal website and was met with some major BS. They refused to honor their own price listed and tried to upsell me on a more expensive part. So, I'm tired of having to call vendors out. If it was an honest mistake, I'm sure RavSpec would agree to the lesser price they have running, I just never had the deposit to make it happen for the Wedssports I wanted.

lol didn't know the weight of what i say comes down to what i drive. I drive a lime green eclipse. I raced last weekend and nearly blew the welds off my intake.

Supporting the forum vendors is fantastic.. I'm with that 100%. The whole "OMGAH i got quoted two different prices, thats shady." stuff is lame. put on your big boy pants and ask them to match the price they advertise. lol  if they won't then move on :)

It does when it comes to which vendors you use, parts you buy, and how much those parts cost. This isn't a dime a dozen car so there aren't a lot of companies who sells 370 stuff compared to, say a Civic, Mustang, Camaro, etc. With this in particular, Wheels tend to cost an order of magnitude more than some cheaper vehicles because we use 18"-20" and generally 9"-12" wide. So now that I've covered this, you are over dramatizing the comments on this thread, it doesn't help anyone, and only makes you look like an @ss hat. You only point out the obvious, price matching was already discussed, price advertisements were discussed, and it doesn't take an expert to say "try another vendor" So, you really didn't help at all. Maybe if you had experience working with Ravspec, you could have helped, but you don't, and you aren't helping.

As for my experience; I haven't purchased anything from them, but inquiries can sometimes take a while, other times, immediate. I haven't had any issues with the quoted prices being out of line from market value of the items. If Ravspec was shady, I would think a thread would have been made a while ago as they've been a vendor here a while.

ZKraken22 05-01-2013 06:28 PM

Yea its no big deal. I saw my 370z on Ebay and it was 4K cheaper then the online price. Just buy the cheaper price and move on. When i sold my 350z I had it on cars.com autotrader, and Ebay at 3 different price points.

I just got my wheels from Mark today, stand up guys IMO. I actually got 5 wheels from him. 4 were used, but one had a small scratch (that MArk disclosed before the sale) and he said he was sending a brand new one to replace it as soon as it came in. PLUS, he included a brand new set of lugnuts I wasnt expecting. So in my opinion, great guys, and if I need wheels again I'll be going to them.

axmea? 05-02-2013 01:15 AM

Why would you get another quote knowing how much they were selling the same item at another site? Better strategy is to ask what they can do to beat the lower price by 20% and haggle. Once you get a good price, negotiate for some add-ons like upgraded lugs and/or lugs. I would also pit their pricing against their known competitor. Get names and drop it onto who you are dealing with. "Sammy says, he'll beat your price anytime" They really take it personal. Works for me. For example, I have a quote for a brand new KWV3 for 1800 cash out the door. I started at 2350. I am still working on getting a lower bid. My next step is to get a $50 credit on a future purchase.

NickD 05-02-2013 08:02 AM

CAN I JUST CLARIFY - The price I saw on Ebay was RavSpec's ebay price. It's not like I'm trying to get 2 different vendors competing. It's the same vendor giving different prices which is what isnt sitting right with me. if they were over priced compared to someone else i would simply tell them beat the price or I'll buy it elsewhere.

Here...go overreact to this "girls"

I also got a response from them on the "slightly used wheels" even though the response above says "brand new". Apparently they have only been used for test fitting on cars but not driven on. :icon14:

I dont see how asking about other members experiences on a forum like this is overreacting since thats what the forum is for. Provide information to a community based on other member's feedback and experiences. Has no one here ever asked how someones exhaust sounds and performs? You prick! Go buy it yourself and see how it is! stop overreacting! :gtfo2:

Apoc370z 05-02-2013 11:52 AM

Well, could it be that the ones quoted are 20's and the ones listed on ebay are 19's?

KaienZ34 05-02-2013 11:54 AM

That does make about a $400 dollar difference, sometimes more depending on the wheel.

FireDan50 05-02-2013 11:55 AM

Bought my Volk GTS wheels from them and had no problems...they even had no problem shipping to me in Belgium.

Wiggins3377 05-02-2013 11:59 AM

I've ordered two sets of GS4s from Mark, nothing but the best to say about how he helped me and handled all my questions. Will go back to them every time!!!

Op you've made your point and gotten plenty of good suggestions, And what you decide to do is entirely up to you.

Good luck and hope you get a good price on what your looking for either from the vendor in question or one of the othe vendors on here.

RavSpec 05-02-2013 03:11 PM

OP:

I am not sure what's the problem .... Your inquiry was for the 20" VSXX, Gun Metal we have on clearance. I quoted you a few pricing over PM, which in this case will be cheaper than what's being posted. Mainly because we have the wheels for a while and just want to move them.

The eBay link you have posted is for a totally different set, that' a 19" with Burning Black finish.

These custom wheels are very complicated to quote due to the custom colors and custom spec.

We have been a vendor here for a while and been on other forums as well, nothing shady here.

We have a 6000 square feet show room and warehouse located in Deer Park NY. I am sure if you come with cash, I could be more flexible with pricing.

You might want to check your prices for Wedssport SA55M in BBM color. Your last forum price was $43 higher than eBay for 18x9/18x10. FYI :tiphat:

How or why did a closed thread reopen? Neat.

edit: I figured it out.

enkei2k 05-02-2013 03:31 PM

Larger wheels tend to be more expensive and the Burning black ( :yum: ) is an additional cost option as well, I believe.

Please check your PMs. There was not an issue. I was simply looking for community feedback on a vendor who I have never dealt with. I'm not sure why Triple's got so defensive about this thread and closed it, but here is my last response to him as well.

I'm not looking for anything from Ravspec. I was looking for community feedback. I'm not bad mouthing them or accusing them. I'm simply planning to make a purchase from a shop i'm unfamiliar with and wanted community feedback....that was it. I'm not sure why it's being made into a dispute like i have an issue with the vendor.

Wondering is there a vendor review section on this forum ?

I'm gonna come by the shop to see you guys maybe Saturday if you are open and hopefully pick out a set of wheels. Do you have tires too so I can drive off with new shoes? :happydance:
