<-- this guy does! |
There's a similar thread like this on a 911 forum I go on. I would rather take a high revving 332hp engine with high precision at high rpm's (where you should actually be when you drive hard) than a low revving 400hp Evo that feels like every other aftermarket tuned turbo car out there. I don't give 2 chits about low end torque as I'm not a stop light racer. I don't give 1 chit about crazy hp figures or what stage your turbo'd car is at. I care about engine characteristics, and the VQ engine screams character. Especially when you're over 6K rpms.

^ Now if only they'd give us an oil pump that doesn't grenade at 8K ;)

OP - GTM is making a Turn Key twin turbo kit for about $6,000 which will net you roughly 450-500whp. I doubt you would need much more than that on a DD.

It sounds like the BigT needs boost on his Z. I really don't blame him. The Z is quick but not OMG quick. ... Maybe my perception has been skewed from sport bikes... |

And Jungle gets smoked by yet another Camry! I can't a start a poll on my phone, but it'd be funny if someone did to see what people think are the main causes of jungle getting smoked by camrys lols. Tapatalk2 ... |
On the List? Is eating rice daily makes you a RICER too?:icon14:

M370 manifold and get your low to mid end power. does wonders. Probably one of the best drivability mods you can get. At least yours is only leased jungle, so you'll be out of your car before you know it
|
The best drivability mod on the planet is upgrading driver skill :)

Don't get married... Unless you plan on driving your Z into a tree as headache medicine.
I think in your case that's 2 birds one stone? Meh...get married, its a good time. |

Btw, you keep talking about how V6 Accords are as fast as this car - I drove a 2004 V6 Accord 6MT (250 hp 180 tq) for the first year of Z ownership, and it never came close to the Z regardless whether we launch from stop or rolling. That's with me driving the Accord and my wife driving the Z. It's not a contest, so I'll thank you to stop making those comparisons. Yes, when you don't want to rev past 4K RPMs, a V6 sedan at WOT will likely pass you. Do something about it (go WOT and you'll easily smoke them) or just deal with it (ignore them) :ugh2: |
I don't want to live on this planet anymore. We got people saying a Honda civic shifts better than a Z....
|
A Z can pass a V8 car easily, it all depends on the road and the drivers :)
Here's my Z chasing down two Corvettes. The first one spins out, and then I have to ride the other's bumper for a quite a while waiting for a pass. He thinks he can finally get away on the straight, but then the next pair of corners eats up all his gains... TWS CCW 2012-03-03 TDE Blue4 - 370Z - YouTube My point isn't that our cars corner better than 'Vettes. It's that the driver is way more important than the car. |
I don't know about a Honda Civic, but I will say the Honda Accord 6MT I owned had an incredibly smooth clutch. To compare it to the Z's clutch is to compare crisco to sandpaper. However, I don't have any problems with the Z clutch. It's louder and rougher, which seems appropriate because the Z is too.
