. He says that I sound fishy because I found his add on craigslist from San Diego. He thinks I am trying to do something called a shipping scam to him. I might have found someone else selling the seats I want so I might not end up going with this guy anymore.

This is true. Remember Craigslist is supposed to be for local sales. I have gotten many craiglist responses where someone wants to buy what I am selling but they are not in the area so they want to wire me the money and have me ship the item. It's a regular scam on craigslist. The fact that he is willing to have someone local come look at the seats is a good sign. Maybe he just isn't familiar with PayPal. Either way, finding a local member willing to go look at the seats and help with shipping would be the way to go.
