Don't buy anything. Leave your money in the bank and keep saving till you hit $108,000 and can afford a 911. Then you can ask yourself. Porsche 911 or down payment on a 911 turbo?
But if you're gonna buy right now. The Nismo makes more sense. |
911 will be a better choice imo. quieter interior. maintainence is not that bad (idk where people are getting that from) and it will be worth more in 5 years in case u wanna sell it
|
Sorry, too lazy to verify. But you're referring to a 996 911, correct? Not really my favorite Porsche but still superior than a Nismo--especially a Carrera S.
|
get a maxima. they are just as fast.
|
I went with the 911 but im not to fond of the year (go newer). Im also hoping its not a plain jane 911. If so go Nismo.
|
I work one of the largest Porsche dealers in the world (sales). Let me know if I can help with anything... I drive a 2012 Nismo myself and obvsiouly drive every form of a 911 almost daily..

First of all, what model 911?
1. Test drive both. You may find that the Nismo is just a bit rough for you as a DD. Power aside, you'll almost certainly find the 911 to be a smoother ride that makes you love it. It'll be supple and happy to do whatever. Also, that engine behind your ears? Yeah, nice. 2. If you find the right 911 at a good price in good condition and with all the options you really want, it's hard to say don't jump on that chance. 3. As someone said, the Nismo isn't going anywhere. You could always re-flip the Porsche probably easier than the Nismo. (Just a guess on my part, not an experience.) For me, personally, I'd rather get what I truly want. If I truly wanted the 911 as a dream and have the chance, if I choose the Nismo, I'll always wish I had jumped on that chance for the 911. Just like the girl back in school... You may find that you made the wrong decision and should have done the Nismo, but at least you'll have satisfied your dream and you won't really feel that bad about the decision. |

However, I voted 911, well, because I'm partial to Porsche. Though, it depends on the model. If I could afford it, a '98 993 911 Turbo would be my choice. I don't mind the 996 models, but would stray away from a Carrera unless it was a 4S. |
It's a tough call honestly. I just grabbed this 2012 sport, was considering older 911 as option myself. Dad has a 2006/8? 911 S
I think you would be happy with either one. I would say get the nismo-but I'm partial. |

Get a Boxster S or Cayman S instead.

Nismo.
Work hard and get yourself a (newer) Porsche in the future. |
You can't go wrong either way. As some have suggested, I would avoid the older models with the IMS issues. Have you test driven them both? It's hard not falling in love with a P car once you've driven one. I should know, I have a 981 Boxster on order. The Z is a good all around performer its affordable, decent interior quality, great styling both inside and out, and drives like a real sports car. But it leaves something to be desired once you've driven a Porsche, but that's just my opinion. You'll have a smile on your face no matter which one you end up with. But if you ask me, 911 all the way.

First off the 370 Nismo ought to be just as fast as a 996 or 997 on a straight. This is my experience at the track. I just saw the 991S in action on Saturday at Laguna Seca. I say buy the Nismo now and in 4-5 years buy the 2013 911S. This is what I am thinking myself. The car is just amazing.
