I think regret is a strong word for the feelings created from the OP's situation. I only regret a few things in my life, and they definitely don't pertain to items I've purchased. The title should be "Who else is pissed, because the Z I bought is a total piece of ****?"

I'd be livid if I was in DE's shoes. But regret? I don't think so. I'd only regret it if I bought it and couldn't afford it. When running right (which mine does), the Z is a great package. It's quick, handles great, and is the sexiest damned thing on four wheels, short of certain cars priced at least twice as high. Bickering about the regret of color choices and whether or not your Z has a top is kind of...lunacy. Just my two cents.

No way I got a solid red Nismo and had for about 2 months now and I get stares everywhere and asked about my car all the time. I had a 350Z and now I have this beauty and I love it. Hard ride no, loud no, can't see out of it because of the awesome design no, IT'S CALLED A SPORTS CAR no go be sporty goddammit!

Yeahhhhhh, 3.7 ZPA is 100% correct... I am very bitter towards the brand
( Click to show/hide )
I'm at 3 for 3 POS Nissans and now that the 2013 Maxima is rattling MORE AND MORE by the day, I want to kill myself that I did this again...
My Nissans have been/are SO BAD I wrote a 6000 word anecdote on my Nissan history
I will NEVER, EVER buy another Nissan product again, I will never recommend one, and I hope their marketshare takes a dump

I just do know a decent amount have moved into a 5.0 or an SS and I know there are some of us that are more open to other brands and such. That's why I made the thread. Just wanted to get a feel for where we all stand ATM
I don't mind closing it since there now have been a few of these "regret" threads and such...

I understand your frustration. This is my second Nissan, and they've both had their share of quirks. But all cars do. I guarantee you, at this moment, there is a thread somewhere on a Camaro forum detesting it, because someone got jobbed by a dealership.

Off Topic: Those 5.0s are NASTY. A stock one with R-compounds ran the second-fastest time of the day at the autocross event I did yesterday. I'm going to leave room for the inevitable "but the interior is garbage" comment. :icon17:

I'm ok with quirks... Like all my Lexus's went through a subwoofer, the first sub almost had a recall...
I don't have quirks though... I have a car that's worse than a... It's pretty bad... Lol

And the Maxima rattles soooooooooooooooo much it drives me crazy, I'm going to have a tow truck take it to the dealershit...
Other thing, like the front bumper wasn't even properly installed... C'mon, which blind man installed the damn bumper???

nope. I don't regret my decision in the least. I bought my car because 1) I wanted a sports car that actually had that sports car feel when I sat in it, and 2) I wanted a true sports car with a History and passion , a Cult following if you will. lol.

I didn't care about anything else. I still don't. I have my Z, and its history and heritage.... the love and appreciation to which drives the passion is exactly why I have mine. others may have more power, handle better exc. I don't care. I have my Sports car , its history and along with a fabulous car, you associate yourself with a whole different breed of people, good people. Z people.

I hear ya. My 2002 SE-R had random pieces falling off of it by the time I traded it. That was at over 100k miles, though. This is a rough patch of road, and I hope you can get some satisfaction out of all of this. I don't feel that the thread should be closed, though. Things like this can be a good way for people to diagnose symptoms other than the major issues (SW lock, CSC, and such).

I dig the history of the Z, but there's definitely some breaks between the modern Z and the older ones.

Many folks hold that the break comes with the Hiratsuka move.

I feel like like the big break came when they dropped the L series. The 370Z pays great visual homage to the history, but there's very little connection to the Z's of old.

I'm unlikely to purchase another modern Z, but I will always be waiting for the right Datsun to pop up....and if Nissan ever goes back to it's roots and gives us a screamer again, I will be first in line, much to the chagrin of my wallet.

To answer the question, I don't really regret my Z purchase, but it definitely soured Nissan in my mind. The support I got wasn't as bad as DE's, but it certainly did not meet expectations for reliability, but more importantly for support.

I learned a lot through the process about how dealerships that take great care of you through little issues all of a sudden become terrible to work with and can't take the time to call you back, and NNA takes their time to resolve anything. I can only hope for the rest of you guys here to never have to deal with a serious issue on the car.

At the end of the day, though, I had a good time with the car. It's a looker and gets a lot of attention (more than I'd like, to be honest), and especially after getting some weight off the front and real tires onboard, it was a blast to drive. I'd never buy one again, but I'd also not go back and change my decision to purchase. I might have kept it a little longer if it had been trouble-free, but who knows.

But their heart is saying, "It's all about the Z1 girls. w00t!:happydance:":p

Nope. And at least the Z has real exhaust tips. I also don't understand how some people can have so many problems with their Z's and others have Zero. So weird? Zero problems with my Z I love it and I drive it hard. The tranny is super smooth and I think that has a lot to do with proper driving and it still puts a smile on my face every time I jump in.

But if we're using that as stupid point to argue...
At least the ISF HAS an exhaust note, :roflpuke2:
