I've actually had a great experience with my dealership, Norris Nissan, although I haven't had to go there very often... Let's see, bought the car there in '10, had my tires mounted on new wheels with TPMS installed in '12, just had my recall work done there this week. They're pretty easy going, but I haven't had the same kind of ugly issue that some of you folks have.

Wellllll...
A few things, I'd never OWN a BMW because I can't do German cars (yeah, their reliability is a JOKE) And the Z doesn't sell well because it's overpriced (I don't care about that, lets not turn this into a discussion about value) The biggest (3/5)35 issue was the fuel injector pump thing. 5 of 6 of my close friends who had 35's had their cars lemoned, and the other guys car burned down on the freeway due to a shoddy install job by BMW |

Man after reading a lot of these posts I hope my car doesn't start giving me problems. So far I've had zero issue (besides oil cooling). Granted I only have 15K miles. DEpointfive0 (sick name btw) how many miles do you have on your Z?

32k miles, if I was at 100k, cool, I wouldn't mind my problems as much... |

In 2010, the oil cooler should have been done. In 2011, They should have improved the base and touring stereo In 2012, they could have made the cargo cover standard and the foglight. In 2013, they could have done there cheesy upgrades and it would not have been so cheesy due to progression. 2014, a small power boost would be nice. Little things mean so much when raising prices the way nissan did.. If the oil cooler would have been done? We probably would have sold an extra 3,000 units in 2010. And I believe the 3000 unit increase would have been close to conistent throughout the years. Nissan fvcked up big time in that department.. |

And that is pretty low miles. I would imagine having the same feelings to the Z and Nissan if I saw all the problems you have seen. |

It's my favorite gun, owned 4, one was stolen when our house was broken in... ;-( but it's all good, I've got 3 more, lol! And I DO think my dislike of the Z/Nissan as a whole is justified... I don't strive to bítch and moan on the forum (especially because I REALLY LOVE the forum and all it's members) I just want to see what people would buy if they knew were to do it again, or if they knew what they know now. That is all! Again, for the 50th time or so, I'd do it again the same way JUST because I met some amazing people and I love the helpfulness of people on THIS forum... But I really hate the car every day... I look at my JDM tails and my Stillen 4.5" exhaust and the MBlue and think it's sexxxy, then I get in and PRAY it starts without fault... If corporate/the dealers can fix it properly, awesome, I'll love it again... But at the moment, I hope CA has a flash flood and my car is parked at the bottom of a valley. |
May I add that in spite of some of my comments from 2 posts ago about Nissan not getting enough U.S. support, Nissan also has been too slow to fix Recall type issues. I definitely agree with Dizzy their as well... But there's also too much nitpicking when it comes to the Z. When compared to other cars in it's price range. Performance wise, I still think the Z is very competitive in spite of...
I find flaws in pricing with all the current sports cars, to be honest. The camaro is poorly priced. The mustang is going the same way. The BRZ... I throw up from laughter at those prices. The new bimmers... Thats funnier than the BRZ. Performance is being sold at a higher price than it's worth. But now it's getting harder to sell people sports cars so next gen, I believe we'll see better value for the money. I think the war for more power neglected other parts of the sports car experience. Next gen. I think all sports cars will be more well rounded and priced better in terms of price to features plus performance.. |

And I agree on the forum aspect, way better than the Evo / STi forums, and more of a community feeling than the Porsche forums. So if you could spend your 35K again on a different car, what would it be? (assuming you couldn't put it towards a more expensive car) |

And yep, ALL Israeli made! (I wouldn't buy an American made one, not because of quality, it just should ONLY be Israeli made, LOL) If I could spend my original investment 33k after TTL and BS, I'd buy...

I would love to see porsche come out with a lightweight 250hp turbo 4 mid engine car for under $45,000. I would jump on that hardcore. But it would have to be turbo so i can boost it an extra 120hp cheaply... :happydance: |
I regret not toasting my pop tart this morning... Oh, wrong thread. :p

I like my Z. Love to drive it and it's a great looking car. I guess I expect a little more out of a company for a car at that price point, especially on known issues like the bluetooth or the steering lock (personally I couldn't care less about the oil heating issue as I'm not a track guy and if you run into issues on the road, it's because you are driving in a manner you definitely should not be). It's paid off, in full, and I'll keep her for a while till I'm bored with it. Even more importantly, nothing else really appeals to me right now, at least not at this price point. My next car will no doubt cost me double what the Z did as I've now got the performance car bug. |
