Default Considering 370z

I'm considering a 370z as a weekend track/auto-x car, but after reading through the throttle delay thread, I'm now re-thinking my decision (seems there is no fix yet for this issue). I didn't experience it during my test drive, but that was a pretty short drive, about 10 min.

Would any of you have bought a different car if you knew about it?

I'm less concerned about the brake fade, oil temp, and springy clutch issues as there seem to be solid solutions for all of those. FWIW, the other cars I'm considering are the Evo X GSR and Scion FR-S. Thanks!

I only experience the issue if I have been stuck in traffic for a long time ot if I have been driving it like a grandma for a while. Its almost as if the computer learns your driving style and puts the throttle in like economy mode lol. All I do is get on it once and the car wakes up and I wont experience it again.

Um, isn't the throttle delay issue fixable with a tune?

No. I still do not know about it. It has never happened to me.

RE:brake fade, oil temp, these do happen and can be fixed.

Brake fade can happen on an Audi R8 before mine fade now.

You should look at the FR-S
As much as I love the Z..
Seems like the FR-S is a better auto-x and nimble car.
$ + 4 Seats + -Weight.
Seems like a no brainer.
Unless you enjoy cruising and tracking

I think the OP should look at all cars he's considering, including the FR-S. But I think the Z is still the better car. Obviously, opinions will vary. I would just rather have the faster car. Also, I'm not so sure that the FR-S is beating the Z at any auto-x.

Go drive each one extensively. See if you can take one for a couple of days to make your decision easier.

Sounds good, thanks for the input. Doesn't seem like the throttle delay issue is widespread.

I'm looking at a 2011 w/5k miles on it from Carmax. They've got a 5-day return policy, so I might be able to take it for an "extended" test-drive.

yah, carmax is on the expensive side but at least you do get to return it if it doesn't work out for you. i suppose take it to your mechanic too while you have that grace period to ensure your car is sound. GL!

saw an frs and brz in person at cars and coffee this past saturday, while fairly similar there are some things about the brz that i liked more. i think the frs is on the cheaper end of the build when it comes down to interior and subtle exterior differences...
