Furthermore I had 2 hrs to kill at the airport so if my lengthy post seemed like I was just ranting without merits I apologize. But those are my thoughts. |

And hey, who gave you the lead on the guy who would mod your illuminated kick plates? LOL  |

NO! It's not a nismo and never will be!! Stop trying!!
Pffft.... I don't care, it's just a badge. I just like the nismo because of the bodykit to be perfectly honest =P Do whatever makes you happy bro. Someone's always gonna be butthurt. Just tell them to stop taking it up the ***. |

Bottom line is that you can build a car that outperforms a nismo and maybe even looks just like one, but you can't "convert" a car to a nismo. To answer your last question, my red LED kick plates shipped and I installed them last week and they look pretty great. I feel bad for the dude who did them. I can't imagine the headache. |

Serious guys, I am a Nismo owner and I never hated or looked down non-nismo owners. Nor I see most Nismo owners here started to offend non-nismo owners. I don't give a $$$ about putting a nismo badge on or what. Matter of fact, I am happy there are people like Nismo model and want to promote it. But what I am not cool about is the non-nismo owners being so sensitive and talk $$$ about the Nismo everywhere. It's like you spend money on swift springs and FI CBE and I tell you you just wasting your money and not being any faster then my stock Z. What's up with that. |

It's a conversion thread. Pretty much starts off fuzzy. Bypasses the factory definition of nismo. Factory nismo, nismo conversion, both are choices folks are free to make. If either get grief for it, well, it kinda sucks but, whatever, be happy with what you like! Phone Tapatalk *nix ... |

I did not start this thread so people can jump on a "Let's talk smack about Nismo" bandwagnon fan club.
I deeply feel for Nismo owners that are voicing concerns about people attacking them for wasting their $ on their cars. Like I said earlier, the $ spent is over rated. Some people just want to buy their car with the things equipped from stock for a couple of years to enjoy and if they don't like it, they can then upgrade (whether itd be seats, suspensions, whatever) - while some people just want to drive it as is. Either case is up to you. I'm sure someone's gonna say how the factory's Bose Nav or the leather seat isn't as good as what you can get aftermarket with the same cost. In my case, I had to choose between upfront to enjoy for a couple of years: -The Nismo w/ all the performance benefits and the fancy the Nismo body -Sport/Touring w/the luxuary amenities Unfortunately in my case I couldn't have both. I do finding it interesting that there are some strong believers that once it's not a Nismo to begin with "It SHALL NEVER BE A NISMO". I thought the NISMO plaque in the back bumper is just saying you're supporting Nissan Motorsport while some Nismo owners hold dearly that it's something a car cannot replicate as if it's some kind of cult that can be joined only if you have a #. Otherwise, "It's not a NISMO." It's an interesting fact though isn't it? I do support exclusivity and find it good that Nissan created the Nissan 370z Nismo model for people to buy to help support their Nissan Motorsport Passion but I don't agree with the "if I never got a Nismo from the beginning as it was never built and BRANDED as one, it shall never be." Nor do I agree with or appreciate the "Wanna be something I'm not" statements. - It just makes the Nismo 370z people sound more like a cult. Because what is a Nismo? What makes up a NISMO? The authenticity plaque in the center console? What if I were to buy a Nismo and take out Nismo Seats, Suspension, exhaust? Is it still a Nismo? If you were to start off with a Nismo and start switching out performance parts, you're just as much as a "wanna be something you're not". |

Now, I don't think other Nismo owners would really care you put a Nismo badge on your car or not include dmhenderson. They just tried to give you their opinons and heads up since you were asking for opinions. Having said I don't care if you put on the nismo badge or not, I do understand why others suggest you not to... The best way I could explain this better to you is, let's say you have a DG 370z. Just because you powdercoated your wheels and brake calipers to gun metal and red, would you throw on a 40th anniversary tag on your car? For people don't know the Z history of course they wouldn't notice. But when you go to the car meet and people ask you is that a 40th? What you gonna say? And further more, when you sell your car are you gonna tell people it's the 40th? I give you this example so now people can't use performance crap to debate on it. Yes, there IS a versioning no matter it's a better version or same version... But at the end of the day, you should do whatever YOU want. This might sound cliche but this is so true. Now I think you've got enough ideas of other people's. It's time to make your own call and close this thread. No matter what decision you make, we will(should) respect it. Good luck with the conversion and post up some pix when it's done! |
lol, 11 pages all about a piece of plastic lettering. I guess Nissan's brainwashing does work if you are honestly offended. It's all a marketing gimmick. If you've ever been a part of any type of business, you'd be familiar with this tactic. It's nothing but pomp and circumstance. If Nissan had named this the "Nismo Package" instead of calling the car the "Nismo," I don't think this would even be an arguement. At the end of the day, this is something someone in Japan just came up with out of thin air. Nothing stoping you from doing the same.
....same with the 40th. In Europe it was called the Black edition for the exact same car (mostly). OP, put the badges on if you want. If anyone ask, say it's a Nismo replica, lol....and if that still bothers you, drop some turbos and say it's what the Nismo should have been. |
