What is truly unreliable is JD Powers themselves. They are notorious for being easy to convince to give your company recognition with a little green.
As for Nissan, overall they are good machines. Every manufacturer has its issues and there are many factors to how reliable your vehicle will be. I have often found most of the problems with reliability often lie somewhere between steering wheel and driver's seat.
