Stupid Things You've Done in Your Z

+1 on the reversing on 6th gear. First car for me that you had to press down to get into reverse.

Constantly getting out of my car because the perception for parallel parking is way different than my old car. It looks like I'm about to hit the car behind me, but I see that I still have like 3 feet.

Put me down on the list of people trying to reverse in 6th gear. I did that a couple of times initially after I got my Z. I hadn't driven a manual in 8-9 years and Z was the first where I had to push down to shift to reverse.

Never had the reverse issue or the pressing the power button mishap. I think the only stupid thing I do on a regular occasion, only because I look stupid, is parking in a space and getting out to check and make sure I'm not too close to the concrete parking block. Last thing I want is to scrape my INGs lip or dent the cans on the FI exhaust.

Other than that, most people just make fun of me for my automotive OCD.

My garage door is narrow. I've had to replace my passenger side mirror cover twice. Yeah, I've owned the car almost 1 year now.

Visibility on these cars is for some reason hard when your driving. So it goes without saying that when making turns in an intersection with low curb medians, you have to be specially careful... well one day... as the Z was braking necks, I felt specially cocky and had to suddenly stop, swerve and avoid this really shitty median in front of the road... in front of everyone who happen to be admiring the Z. Obviously... i felt dumb afterwards.

I laughed so hard in the middle of our office at work. Yeah ive done things like that, I always try to play it off cool tho .

Thought of a good one for you: There I was getting gas on my military post while everyone was getting out for a 4 day weekend (so everyone and their mother was at the gas station). The guy at the pump behind me was sooo far forward, for whatever reason, in front of the pump causing me to park really far forward at my pump. The gas line reached but it was taut and I began pumping my gas. Then, as I religiously do, continued to clean off my windshield while it was pumping. I look back...... No gas pump in my car, instead it is spraying gas EVERYWHERE at a rate of what looks like 100 gallons a second. Pride hurt worse than the gas on the car.

Yeah, I was filling up one night after work, and the gas pump I was at didn't click off after it filled the tank. (Or, as we Z owners are accustomed to, "when all the lights are lit on the fuel gauge except the last one or two.") Gas went all over my car and all over my pants and shoes. Not really Z specific, as that could happen to anyone with any car, but it still makes you feel like a tool. Had to go to the car wash down the street and blast my car and my shoes with the pressure washer in 20 degree weather. That'll wake you up.

Note to self: "Avoid pump 8 at the Hess station." I've never used that pump since.
