I have driven Datsun/Nissans for over 30 years. I am quite certain it won't be another 30.

I seriously doubt FWD is a consideration.

I agree. If they want to compete with two other rear wheel drive cars, FWD is out the window.

The link to topspeeds report on this.
According to nissan, this is not intended to compete with the frs or the brz, but the mazda mx5.

The 'love or hate' will come from either the styling or engine configuration.

Nissan Planning a Sports Car Below the Mighty Z-Car - Top Speed

It is amusing to me. I thought the BRZ/FRS would force Mazda Miata's into becoming competitive with Toybaru. Now if this happened all four would be in the running.

well the GT-R starts @ $96k and tops out at $110k

So it would be $43-$55k for the next Z.

They can keep it

UNKNOWN_370 01-17-2013 05:28 PM

Being honest. Z news for next gen just sounds disappointingly overpriced and shytty.

I might go back to american cars. It's been 20 years since I had my Buick GN. I bought a 93 FD and never looked back. The mustang and camaro made me start paying attention. The camaro SS1LE/ZL1 got me thinking, this new corvette (though not in love with looks) got me excited.

Nissan talking about FWD's and hybrids is makin my D*ick limp.

JDM is going backwards. Slow JDM cars were cool in the 80's when a CRX was $11,000 and a camaro Z28 was $22,750 and the corvette wa $27,000. You can get a supra turbo for the $21,000 and $3,500 made it faster than most muscle cars in those days. Times have changed and JDM going backwards to low 200hp cars for $30,000 when there's a $33,000 domestic cars on a lot with 400 hp. It's ludacris, This going to make me keep my money domestic.

And if someone tells me power doesn't matter? I will go to your house and throw up in your car!!!! :roflpuke2:

JungleZ 01-17-2013 05:54 PM

I would get a muscle car if they didn't look like a transformers looking machine..

But ya I'm itching for torque

Keep in mind that just because they are bringing in mini Z doesn't mean they will lose the old one. I predict a 400ZX as a 4.0 with around 400 HP, and a mini Z that will compete with the FRS/BRZ/TR86 with around 280-300 HP and a weight of like 2700-2800.

Ugh no not gonna happen

kenchan 01-17-2013 06:07 PM

is GTR going backwards? i dont think so.

i think the issue is 20yr olds in japan not buying cars instead buying anime toys to play dressup or something at home (home as in parent's place). the older folks want to spark interest in wat guys use to play with...cars. but ends up in the hands of middle-aged folks.

ok, im just rambling now. back to topic.
